The food was phenomenal. The homemade habanero jam and french fries was great! I wish they sold the jam. There was 2 individuals that seemed to be serving our table. One was tall with dark hair and was rude. The other was shorter and had a great personality. Neither one offered a refill and our glasses were empty for over 5 mins. Eating a habanero burger with no drink was challenging. I did get up and ask the front for a refill. I was given the option of fries or onion rings with my burger. I was not informed there is a 3 dollar upcharge for fries. Though the food was great I probably won't return.

Stopped by for the first time after seeing the big ice cream banners outside. Looked like a fun treat spot, but unfortunately, the ice cream machine was down — and there was no sign about it. Staff was polite but the experience felt disorganized. Just a heads-up to future visitors: this is more of a diner than an ice cream shop. Might give it another shot someday, but definitely not what I expected today

2nd chance at this place, order was the same. Hash browns were mush, eggs over easy were still raw, goaetta was a warm mush rectangular thin mold, will never ever eat here again, maybe the ice cream is good?

We made the trip down to Walton on Father’s Day after seeing lots of buzz about Kelly Q’s Whippy Dip on Facebook—and we’re so glad we did. This place absolutely delivered on its promise of classic diner goodness.
I went with Combo #2: two eggs, pancakes, and a choice of meat. The pancakes were excellent—fluffy, golden, and cooked just right. The eggs (ordered over medium) were near perfection, which is no small feat. So many places miss the mark, but not here. Both the bacon and sausage were solid—exactly what you’d want from a hearty breakfast.
My fiancé had the country fried steak combo, which was a standout. The breading on the steak was delicious, and the steak itself was incredibly tender. Again, eggs were cooked perfectly, and the biscuit and gravy? A real treat. The gravy was a tad thick for our taste, but that’s a small note, likely more about our regional preferences than the recipe itself—it still had great flavor.
One of the things we loved most? It was super fun to see a restaurant with true regulars—people who clearly come often and are greeted like family. Even when we left, they told us goodbye, too. That kind of warmth and community is rare and made the whole experience even better.
Despite it being Father’s Day, we had no wait to be seated. It did take about 20 minutes to get our food, but that’s totally understandable on a holiday and well worth it for the quality.
If you love that nostalgic, old-school diner atmosphere, you’ll love Kelly Q’s. Don’t let the drive from Union deter you—it’s a super easy on-and-off from the interstate. Plus, Walton has some fun places to explore while you’re down there.
We’ll absolutely be back—can’t wait to try more of their savory dishes and (we’ve heard!) their famous milkshakes.
