Pretty venue (Gardencourt). Good food. Appallingly apathetic service especially from supervisors.

We used Upper Crust for our wedding and they had their pros and cons. Ill start by saying the food was great! The serving staff was very attentive and friendly. There was one menu item changed without our knowledge (a chicken in a white gravy was served instead of the bourbon sauce we selected) but the substitute was good that it was no major issue. The biggest issues came from the bartending staff. We provided a specific recipe for Bourbon Old Fashioned's, with all the necessary ingredients provided, but no Old Fashioned's were made the entire night. We have the unopened supply of ingredients provided as proof. Instead the bar staff put cherry's in the bourbon and served. We also provided jiggers to control the amount of alcohol that was served in each cocktail but these were not used and guests were running around with "8 finger" pours of bourbon. They almost ran out of Bourbon before the bridal party got to the reception (1 hr after the end of the Ceremony). The bartenders also put a tip jar out when they were asked not too, wore sweatshirts and jeans to a formal event; just in general were classless. At the end of the night they were handing out bottles of wine to the guests (one of which was my 22 year old sister without asking to her ID). We intended to take the remaining alcohol home, but between the heavy, irresponsible pours and the passing out of bottles, there was little left at the end of the night. While I believe the bar staff was outsourced and was not part of the Upper Crust staff, they were hired by Upper Crust and this reflects poorly on them. Like I said, Upper Crust and the food was great, their outsourced bar service was atrocious.

We hired Upper Crust to cater our office party yesterday. We had 65-70 people. First off they showed up a little early which was great and set up really fast. They provided everything we needed but we did run short on silverware which was our fault as we gave them a lower head count than we had show up. The food Everything was great! We had all our employees raving in surprise at the quality of everything. Often with caterers they get some things right and not others. But these guys knocked it out of the park, every item was great, even the vegetables which are often soggy or tasteless. A few things to keep in mind: the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese are amazing! Order twice as much as they recommend or you will likely run out fast. We ran out of potatoes about 30 people in and the mac and cheese (which was a white flavorful version not traditional yellow) at around 45 people. Add to your order some fruit and vegetable trays or vegetarians will not have enough choices. Okay the one thing that keeps them from getting 5 stars; the delivery and set up guys. They did not have uniforms or even company t-shirts. The looked sweaty and dirty and kind of scary. They were prompt and professional as they went to work but at first glance we did not want to let them in. I'm sure the wait staff looks much better ( but we did not use them). These guys setting up are representing the company and our first impressions made us think the food was going to be bad because of the way these guys looked. So buy them a set of matching polo shirts with your logo and they would have set a completely positive tone and raised our expectations.

Upper Crust catered our wedding reception at Gardencourt and a continental breakfast the following morning for our guests at Laws Lodge. I could not have asked for better service. Cindy and Angie and the catering staff were kind, helpful, tasteful, reasonably priced, and completely reliable. I'd recommend them to anyone!

As a wedding guest and helper bridesmaid I visited the Upper Crust offices with the bride prior to her wedding. The staff we spoke with were very helpful and asked my friend lots of questions about what she wanted and about seating at Garden Court. They were very reassuring and have 20+ years experience working weddings at Garden Court. We were very impressed to see they had a detailed map of seating arrangements and were very flexible about setting up in different ways. My friends who got married decided to get a range of appetizers and serve them buffet style. The staff was very friendly, organized and had everything set up before the guests arrived. I was not part of the decorations/food/table set up but I did eat the food. Everything was delicious and the appropriate temperatures for each item. I especially loved the potatoes. If I were having a wedding in Louisville I would definitely call them, they know what they are doing, are super helpful and nice and make very good food.
