I needed a place to cater for my mom’s funeral. I gave Gaunce’s a call and spoke with the manager- Tiffany. I cannot say enough kind things about her and her team. They went above and beyond- from helping me pick out the items, to making sure we had everything we needed (utensils, plates, trays, etc.) and the biggest thing of all; she said they don’t typically deliver, but they made an exception for this occasion. Everyone loved the food, it was simple but delicious. Thank you to Tiffany and her crew at Gaunces!!! You guys are awesome and deserve all the stars!!!

I grew up in Winchester but hadn't been to Gaunce's since it was on Lexington Ave. I stopped in there today while I was in the area and ordered a Reuben sandwich. I believe it was the best Reuben I've ever had. I'll definitely be going back.

Cashier couldn't even tell us what the quiche of the day was. I asked if they could tell us if it had cheese or meat in it and was told that it "probably" has cheese. Cornbread muffins were undercooked - doughy center. Portions were small. Tasted and looked like the dumplings were from a can. The fried green tomatoes tasted like they were breaded and fried the previous day and then reheated and served on the sandwich. Not sure when the fountain machine was last cleaned as it spit black pieces into my cup after getting water.

Chicken Rueben it's the best.
My husband loves the inside out hot brown & a bowl of chili. Everything is great. Delicious soups. Love the atmosphere there.

This is a favorite place for lunch. Deli sandwiches are first rate and the available sides are even better.The grilled ruben is a personal favorite.
Very crowded neo-yuppy copy and paste sandwich shop. I got the Philly, will never do that again it is a crime against cuisine. What kind of a sociopath puts plastic kraft singles cheese on a Philly? On top of that they squirted enough mayo in it to drown a horse. No change requests were followed through. The meat was bottom tier sliced sandwich mystery beef. The veggies were soggy microwaved snot. Tables were sticky. Staff was apathetic at best.

2 stars because food was tasty.Paper thin roast beef sandwich.Salad made wrong. Missed ingredients, order was taken correctly.Very stingy, best to raise prices and give decent portions.Very dissatisfied. Nothing like it used to be.Lacking customer service, except for the young lady who took the order. Definitely not inviting. After speaking on the phone to a gentleman regarding the salad, I was informed that I would have to bring it back. Period. Didn’t get an apology, ask what was wrong or any remorse. Just Bring it back.Couldn’t wait to try the place after hearing about it for so many years, will never go back, unless it becomes under new management.Don’t waste your money
