This place has absolutely wonderful food! It is a bit on the pricey side, so be aware of that. Hence the 4 stars. I don't know if the food warrants the price you pay, but the overall experience is quite nice as well.

Come here for the music and atmosphere. Genuine Cajun. The food, meh. Definitely not the best I've had. Gumbo was very thin.

So disappointed with their service tonight. Their services are very irregular and the few times we had good services had us coming back. But after last night, I think we are done! Our drinks and oysters were ordered at the same time. It took 20 min for us to get our drinks, she went to check and come back to say they were out of Blue Moon, we ask for different beer, and she went off to take another table order that just sat down...We sat at the table by the bar so not a far walk! Another table got up and got their owned drinks. We asked about the oysters and she looked like she forgot it. She later brought another table their oysters, which is fine because they probably ordered before ours but she walk past us without a word. No "your order is coming" or anything! After 45 min we were done!!! We asked a bartender for the manager, who walked past us when the bartender called her and we had to follow her down the bar until she talked to us. When we walked out the waitress brought our oysters and was surprised we were leaving when our oysters was here now. Unbelievable!!!!

We have driven from Carencro/Lafayette to take friends out for seafood. LOVE the atmosphere, pretty relaxed but not a dive. I dont eat oysters but love the tuna dish with little roasted tomatoes. My father in law doesnt eat seafood so he tried a ribeye, and made me want to order one----so good! It was seared perfectly. Shrimp coctail and shrimp en brouchette were also delish. A friend had Alfredo (thet did Chicken) and yes i had to taste it, also delicious. I had a Watermelon Cucumber Tini which was excellent. Looking forward to trying tuna with grilled watermelon next week. Yeap, going back soon

Black's for breakfast was pretty great. I had a sausage omelette that was outstanding. Service was a little slow, however.

Our group of 8 came here on a Wednesday night for half off seafood items. We were really excited! When you get there you are greeted with crackers with cream cheese topped with pepper jelly. That was pretty awesome. We ordered 7 dozen raw oysters and we told our waiter we wanted them soon. He told us they're backed up and said he would wait to put in that order. It sounded weird but we waited. The oysters took awhile but were clean and very fresh. After we finished our apps, we wanted to order entree's. Once again, we were told to wait it out. IT TOOK FOREVER for our food. Our party of 8 ordered 3 seafood platters expecting to be able to feed a good bit of us, as well as a grilled oyster salad, gumbo, the tuna entree , and a tuna wrap. We were wrong. I'm so glad we came on a Wednesday night bc if I had to pay $26 for that small amount of seafood I'd be annoyed. The food was good I will say that. My brother who ordered the tuna was happy with what he got. My husband ordered the tuna wrap and it was VERY upsetting. It had 2 pieces of tuna filled with lettuce. I'm glad we came in on a Wednesday night to try the seafood. We stayed there so long that we didn't want to order desserts. Id only go back if it was a Wednesday night. (And I don't mind paying what needs to be paid for a good seafood platter)

So disappointed with the Mother's Day brunch today. The food was terrible. From cold eggs to the weird sweetness in every sauce, dry pork loin and under cooked bacon, I just can't say that the $30 person was worth it. My mother did day that the bread pudding was good but I just couldn't get myself to try it after such an unappetizing meal. I also want to mention that the kids did have a choice of paying the same price as the adults for their meal or they could choose French toast sticks, mini corn dogs, popcorn shrimp or chicken tenders. My daughter just wanted fruit and a biscuit off of the buffet so she got a $30 dollar biscuit with fruit- wow. And, don't think your ice tea is included because it's not. Want a drink- that will be extra. Now, when my husband paid the check, the lady asked how was brunch and he explained that it was not what we were hoping for and proceeded to elaborate in a constructive way and there was no apology just a "at least you didn't have to cook at home". Wow- customer service. I really wanted to love this place because of the nostalgic memories from my childhood but I was so disappointed. I remember how great the place was back then- good food and ambience. Guess I'll just have to keep the memories and move on. Don't know if I can give them another try.

Boiled Crabs by the tub! Go in crab season. Good atmosphere on a beautiful small town square.
