Service was great, food was just okay. Biscuits were heavy and lacked flavor. The sausage was tasty and the egg was fine, grits were luke warm. For the hype regarding the biscuits, I expected more. It is a neat place, with all the atmosphere you expect from a diner.

Had the fried catfish platter with fries and green beans. The fish itself was not fresh at all the flesh looked grey and swveral pieces were stucked together like they didnt place them in the fryer separately. The green beans were the best part of my catfish platter. Very disappointed because the Johnston St location has better food. The most upsetting part of my visit was the baby size slice of my apple pie that cost me 5 dollars. Even my waiter couldn't believe how tiny the slice was. My waiter told me a manager wasn't present and that he couldn't do anything about the price. Mel's Diner you all should be ashamed I will not be back!!!
