We stopped by this gem off the beaten path on a roadtrip from Dallas to Baton Rouge. The food was AMAZING! (Last night we had dinner at James beard award restaurant in New Orleans for context). They get the authentic French bread from New Orleans for their Poboys that are crunchy on the outside and light and soft on the inside. The owner told us they hand bread the shrimp every day. They also had a whole list of burgers (including an oyster burger I was very tempted to try). Cajun fries were amazing! If you are anywhere near Alexandria go try this place!!!

The burgers aren't real meat anymore they are soybean Patty's and still charging an arm and a leg for a burger but who won't be going back is me that was the only place you could get a real burger now im bummed out because they used to be real down home they have lost that and the prices aren't matching the food anymore I don't know about anyone else but I will pay for good food but that I will not stand for sorry Bernice's you have lost your way!!!

Bernice’s sandwich shop has the best homemade burgers in town! If you like po boys, you have to try the roast beef with gravy or the bbq beef poboy. All home style cooking. Definitely the best spot to eat in town. Dine in available!
