You can tell that the meat was frozen and not cooked fresh off a pit. The Mac n cheese tasted kinda sour and the beans tasted burnt. The burnt prices on appetizers was delicious. If they would make the meats fresh on the pit ad ordered it would be class A. It was o.k. and a nice place inside. The workers were very friendly

The owner's son who was running this restaurant tonight is very rude & unprofessional. I brought a group of 20 people to eat... over half the restaurant business was sent by me. And he had the nerve to yell @ me for grabbing forks for our group; as it was obvious they were unstaffed (he couldn't handle any refills which was understandable but not yelling at a customer). We will not be back as the food was terrible and the service was worse!

Placed a to-go order and it was very good. I ordered the 2 meat plate (brisket and pulled pork) and my daughter had the BBQ shrimp plate. This place is very clean inside and looks inviting. The guy behind the bar with a pony tail was very attentive, extremely personable and friendly. Inviting atmosphere and the place SMELLS SO GOOD inside and out. The only complaint I have is the macaroni and cheese, which didn't have any flavor at all. I also had the carrot cake. It was also very moist, the icing was fabulous, but the cake itself didn't have much flavor. It was only my 1st time trying Gastons but overall, I'd eat here 100 times over any other restaurant around Donaldsonville, which aren't very many. Very happy this place is here and hope it stays!

We chose this diner based on the good reviews and pictures. The food didn't look like the pictures in the reviews. We ordered a Brisket Burger & Brisket Plate. The brisket and also the burger patty didn't taste good. The brisket was heavily streaked with fat and was not of good quality. The smoked beans tasted like ready-made food and were definitely not freshly cooked, just warmed up. The mac & cheese didn't taste homemade either. The only good thing here was the fries. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone!!

Not friendly, buffet only and $20 a person. Food was sitting out for long period of time and asked for something fresh on it. Buns for their burgers were like rocks seriously ? i could have used it to knock someone out and salad bar ?? let’s just say was a joke.
Now the one star was because it wouldn’t let me give zero stars.
I suggest go somewhere else for BBQ. Their photos online was no where close to reality.
Dry food not my thing but cobbler was good. So there’s A compliment the brisket after requesting fresh food that hadn’t sat for hours. Brisket we can say yes to

I do believe if had we ordered off a menu I believe could’ve been better. Being from Dallas I do give fair reviews if deserved.

Red flag when going to bbq restaurant, but no smok in the air. Went on Friday evening. Only customer in place the entire time. I see why. This is not a bbq joint. All meat is simply baked in oven, then served dry at table with choice of 3 sauces. Brisket, ribs, chicken just oven baked. The chicken was so dry it was probably from 3 days earlier. Horrible that they call themselves a bbq restaurant. I bet there's not a pit on site. Corn mac shoux was simply canned cream style corn with andouille sausage. Open for breakfast too. On Saturday morning between 7 and 9 there was not one customer. I can see why. Hippie looking man working the dining room was oblivious to what was going on. He only sat at the bar playing on his phone with ear buds on. Never checked on us. One of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. This place will not last another 3 months without major changes.

I'll preface this by saying that the food was mostly okay. The macaroni cheese, brisket, and ribs were good, as were the barbecue beans. The problem is that they're charging $20 for a buffet and there is almost no food on the buffet. There weren't enough salad fixings to make one salad. There was one piece of fish and half of the items that were listed were just a pan with maybe a spoonful of that item left sitting there. A couple of trays clearly not even stirred. Although they said they'd be bringing out more food, all they brought out was a little more brisket and a couple of chicken breasts. If you're going to charge people $20 for a buffet, you could at least have food on the buffet. I'm a local, and when I've got more visitors here, we won't be back. Less than friendly guy at the front counter, and it was overall a waste of $65. Donaldsonville deserves better.

Holy Smokes! Delicious. Out here for work and looking for crawfish boils...sadly most small shoos are closed, but fell on this gem. Brisket, Ribs and chicken leg quarter and it was delicious. The Potatoe salad was best I've had, and I'm Dominican-had a lot of potatoes salads ?. Can't pronounce the corn, but it was amazing. Some creole or Louisiana dish.
Delicious, definitely recommend.

I’m from out of town and was looking for some good food locally. Came in not expecting too much, but my lord, that’s some of the best bbq I’ve had. The sides were even better including the carrot cake! Thank you!
