The food was amazing, family owned business. It was like having a home cooked meal. 100% recommend.

This little hiiden gem was a very pleasant surprise. The sign is missing out front, so don't miss it driving by. The building is older and at first glance you are not sure what your going to get. After walking in to see the owner sitting at a table and her daughters serving and have a great conversation with her you feel like you just joined a family at their home table. The food finished out the home cooking feel and was amazing. The fried chicken was so delicious. Don't let the outside fool you this place was so inviting and served great food.

I wanted to make sure to post a review for this place, since the last one I could find online was from three years ago! We were driving to the Whitney, saw this place on Yelp, and wondered if they were still around. We stopped when we passed by it and saw the open sign lit up. She's there! Tammy Lewis is the cook, and her mom owns the place. We were spending the whole day at the museum and wanted something easy, quick, close, and tasty. We had great fried chicken/catfish with red beans and rice for $13 each. The red beans were super-flavorful. You definitely have to know it's there to find it -- we felt like we had discovered a secret only the locals know. Might not be for fancy folks, but it's great if you want some good home cooking!

Our friend was driving and thought this place was not in business. After turning back we went in. ABSOLUTELY the best food. We loved it so much that after our tour, we went back and got 3 more dinners to have for supper. The fish was out of this world. The owners were the nicest people too. Grateful that we went back.
Would never have found this place without trip advisor. People were very pleasant. Fried chicken was tasty.
Nothing fancy at all, but the food is amazing. If you want to be swanky, go somewhere else. If you want great home cooked food, this is your joint.
This is a roadside restaurant. 2 trips there, on the way to The Whitney Plantation just a few miles down the road. Doesn't look like much, but don't be fooled; the food is amazingly good. Steady stream of people picking up carry out. Enjoy! (very limited menu, but everything the 6 people in my group ate was excellent)
We were traveling up the River Road toward Evergreen Plantation and saw Westside 66. It was either going to be really good or really bad. Good it was. There wasn't a lot on the buffet as Gene b noted, but everything was delicious. The fried catfish was fresh and tender. White beans with sausage over rice. Fried chicken just fine. The seasonings were perfect. Don't expect fancy, but do expect to leave happy.
Wanted to grab a bite to eat.. no place to sit.. hole in the wall..didn't see much food.. a couple pieces of chicken and some catfish on a hot plate. .

You can easily drive past this place without a second look and we did, twice. We were in the area to look at the Whitney plantation and drove past Evergreen plantation. There were roadworks underway so there was a lot of driving and rerouting and we were hungry. The place looks ordinary, is a deli cum grocery store, with the latter taking up just a few shelves. The rest of the space is a couple of drinks cabinets, around 2-4 tables and the serving front. Not promising at all, the place also does not invite anyone in from the frontage. Then the patron came out, the one who owns it and she was a lovely lady who asked after us and was very willing to make whatever we ordered (shrimp po' boy, fried catfish, cajun spiced fries) even though there isn't a menu or the food was not visible. It took a bit of time and locals were wandering in and out in ones and twos and calls coming in to order food, taken by the son. Apparently the owner also owns the next door garage. Again, very rundown beaten up area and buildings, but the food was good and the check for all? $11, we were very happy to eat in the car and get on the way.
