Food is good, but the service is always lacking. The servers aren't very attentive and always act like they would rather be somewhere else. Desserts are a complete afterthought and very disappointing.

This is my family restaurant. Good food, solid food, quality food, legitimate food, tasty food, authentic food. With all great sushi chefs, hibachi chefs, kitchen chefs, and all the assistant staff. I love our team of waitress, very close to them. My mom is the 100% best of the best, and my dad you can’t complain about single thing. Love to go back to the restaurant and I won’t call it help, but working for my own family.

First time at this restaurant while staying at the Fairfield down the street. I stopped in at 8:30pm (place closes at 9:30pm) to order take out. I ordered pineapple fried rice with chicken and shrimp. I also ordered the Tiger Roll (tuna, salmon, massago, eel sauce, crunchy flakes). As soon as I got to the hotel I questioned what the heck I got. The Tiger Roll barely had rice and not sure what it was wrapped in. I expected traditional seaweed. It look like a white alternative wrap that I didn't ask to substitute. The sushi was missing unagi sauce and no crunchy. I paid $17 for this roll that was totally incomplete and was not as described. As if they didn't want to bother putting the right ingredients because they put all their food away 1 hr before they close. The Pineapple Fired Rice barely had any shrimp. Mostly chicken. The Pineapple was not fried enough. It was like they mixed cold pineapple from a can. The rice had a different taste. I read all the good reviews, but I was let down. I won't be eating here again. Atmosphere is decent, but I didn't eat there. I rated the service based on their effort to prepare what I ordered the way it is described. Not even close!

We used to love Jinsan, but there are a number of reasons they will not be getting our business again after our last visit. All concerns about value versus price when it came to the food aside, we felt that the staff were not friendly and even seemed to go out of their way to appear unwelcoming. For example, after being seated, I took our daughter to check out the hibachi area in the hopes that she would become interested in it and that on our next trip, we would have hibachi together. Unfortunately, we were immediately approached by staff and asked in a not very friendly manner if we were going to have hibachi tonight, even though it was obvious that we were already seated at another table in the main restaurant. We were made to feel uncomfortable and that we should not be doing what we were doing, even though we were just exploring with the restaurant had to offer. Later on, while we were having our meal, the man who I believe to be the owner of the restaurant stood very near us and watched us eat and seemed to hover around our table without ever approaching us, smiling, or even acknowledging our presence except to simply look at us. In my experience, a responsible and friendly restaurant owner will approach your table and ask if everything is okay, not just stare from afar and make it seem like you should not be there. When it comes to the food and the sushi in particular, it is obvious that Jinsan started strong many years back but also obvious that the food quality has declined especially in the last few years. Even the presentation is obviously worse now. We did not receive Ginger or wasabi with the two sushi rolls we ordered. I do have to say the chicken nuggets and fries my daughter ordered were excellent. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I really wish that Jinsan had been able to maintain the high standard of quality and service that it displayed when it first opened down here on the bayou—we need a good sushi restaurant down here! But we could not possibly recommend this restaurant in its current state.

Small portions for price charged. We have dined in and ordered to go and the last 2 times the quality and quantity of what we get is not worth the $$$. After first time we gave it another go but they won’t be getting any more $ from me.

I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was prepared. Everything was good to very good. The service was amazing; there was one server handling all the tables and she somehow stayed on top of everything, with a genuinely pleasant attitude to boot. I would definitely eat here again.

The food was okay the steak very chewy the hibachi came with a ton of rice and very little vegetables and asked for more and was told it would be additional charge, not very good response in my opinion.

Probably one of my favorite sushi places. I pass through to work in Fourchon, and was hesitant to try it when they first opened. Glad we tried it. I recommend it to any of my co-workers when they spend the night in Cut-Off. The Love Boat is an awesome deal. Try the avocado bomb.

Nice little sushi place down the bayou. Had the salmon side plate, very fresh, very delightfully garlicky, slightly salty (and I like salt). Spicy cowboy roll was good and the portion was huge.

Jinsan is actually a great restaurant. But serving imported shrimp, in a community that was born of shrimp fishing is insulting and a fatal error. The irony is that if they switched to local caught, domestic shrimp, their bottom line would improve, as would the quality of their seafood dishes. I do eat there from time to time, but not nearly as much as I would if Jinsan supported the community that supports them.
