Used to love driving the fam out here!! Miss that! But, maybe for the drive and price my expectations are slightly elevated. And I would prefer a little more attentiveness. Food didn’t disappoint, but didn’t blow my skirt up either. I enjoyed not having to cook the steak, but they used to be so much better than they are now. Still wouldn’t say no to going now and then, but not just looking forward to it, so to speak. And this was the same experience I had a few months back, the last time I visited as well, so not just ‘shooting from the hip’ here. Hope next time y’all are still there and made a few adjustments.
mashed potatoes and green beans to die for dont need no salt or nothing they are perfect
chicken fried steak was just icing on the cake
A true old fashioned diner with excellent food. The chicken fried steak! And how do they make those green beans!? The hamburger! A long drive from shreveport but we find it worth it. Food there is not cheap, so we don't go often. Opens at 11 and closes at 2, I think
A friend and I had lunch today at Main Street Restaurant in Gilliam LA. We were driving the Sunflower Trail. I ordered fried shrimp and my friend ordered the fried catfish. The food was excellent. Could not think of one criticism. The atmosphere is family friendly. The service was excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend!
Though we've loved the high quality & huge portions of delicious Southern food here for years, meats & vegetables today, all of them, were way over salted. The pies and tea were as good as ever. Another diner we met outside mentioned that his meal was so salty. Note to kitchen: please, back off the salt, we'll add it if needed, thanks!
The food was good, and priced well.
Amazing food and very friendly people. The chicken fried steak was delicious!
Great food and great staff
Great food, whether catfish or steaks, chicken fried chicken or chicken fried steak, it’s all good!! I love their crawfish bread as an appetizer too! Family atmosphere!
We order from there about twice a week and it's excellent most of the time.

So disappointed in Main Street Restaurant. We waited 10 minutes after being seated and no waitress came. Another table was seated after we’d been waiting that long and the waitress went right over and waited on them. I understand places being short handed but the hostess saw us getting up to leave and said nothing. We went to La Herradura in Oil City and service was great!
We decided to take a nice bike ride out into the country, and our cousin suggested this place for lunch. We were so pleased with the place! The food was real home cooking, and just like your mama or your favorite aunt would make! The cakes looked delicious, but we didn't order because we were so full from our scrumptious lunch and needed room to get back on our bikes! If you like to visit some off the beaten path, this little spot is just the place. What I have learned, you never know what you'll find until you look for something different!

Wife and I have eaten several times with friends and the food is very good, especially the chicken fried steak. FWIT, the meat is locally grown. It's a 40 plus minut drive for us but well worth it.
