Just ate at Cena for the first time tonight for my birthday dinner. I’m so happy we gave this place a chance. Everything was wonderful from start to finish. Everything we had tonight were specials and not on the regular menu. We had a smoked pork belly appetizer that was actually being entered in a bacon competition in Gulfport tonight and definitely worthy. It had fried shrimp and melted cheese on the top. My only complaint would be the crust on the shrimp. Just a little too hard for our liking but that’s being picky. It’s the type of crust that’s so hard it falls off when you cut into the shrimp. The smoke on the pork belly though was perfect. We ate it all before I could get a pic. For our entree’s, my husband had a filet and I had gnocchi which is the very reason I wanted to eat there. It’s very hard to find gnocchi in a restaurant much less homemade. It was in a Parmesan cream sauce with grilled shrimp on top and there wasn’t a bite left on either plate.The atmosphere was very nice and I know they were booked for the evening. We were lucky to get reservations the same day but we did call as soon as they opened today. Our waitress, Abbey, was one of the best waitresses we’ve had at any restaurant ever. She was so personable and knowledgeable about the menu. There were about 6-8 specials to tell us about between appetizers and main course and she had it all memorized perfectly. I would’ve stumbled through notes if it were me. We will definitely be back and will definitely request her again as well.

The restaurant smelled when we walked in. Waited several minutes to be seated as we watched the bartender play on his phone. He didn’t realize we were standing there and did apologize when he finally looked up from his phone.Ordered the crab claws for an appetizer and it was good. We also ordered a side Caesar salad as a starter. Several bites into the salad, I noticed a dead roach in my salad. This was very unsettling. I showed it to our server and she took the plate to the back and showed the manager. The manager did not come to the table to address it. The server apologized and said they were all in the back investigating how roaches got into their lettuce. No accommodations were offered apart from removing the salad from the ticket.Other than that, the mains (redfish) were pretty good but we were looking at every bite to make sure we didn’t see any antennas or legs anywhere. We won’t be back due to the roach situation.

After two visits, it's safe to say that Cena has set the bar for expectations in the hammond area. Both a calm, relaxing weekday night or a busy holiday Friday evening. Staff are constantly attending to patrons with great attention and speed.The atmosphere is fantastic and decor is well placed. Romantic date, small get-together, large party. Cena can handle it.The daily specials are amazing and the staff are very detailed with each dish. There has yet to be a complaint towards food or service.We will most definitely be returning for many future dinners.

Not one to leave reviews but Jesus this one is needed. First time I went, I ordered the gnocchi. 20 minutes later they came out to tell me they were out of gnocchi. Fine NBD. Ordered a different pasta dish. Food came out, noodles were so undercooked that they were stuck together. Told the waitress and she said “no they’re just al dente”. ?what?!? I’m not one to argue with wait staff so I said screw it. Drank wine and ate at home.Months later I got talked into trying it again. Ordered Osso buco thinking maybe I just need to stay away from the pasta. One of most expensive things on menu and half of it is just bone. Not much food. Said screw it. Drank wine out of my glass that still had lipstick marks from the previous user and then ate at home. Swore to never go back.Years later….talked into it yet again. “They’re so much better now, you have to try it!”Menu didn’t change. 6pm. Early into dinner shift. First thing I ordered, they were out of. Second thing I ordered, THEY WERE OUT OF. Third thing I ordered, waitress didn’t want to come back to table to tell me they were out of it so she sent the manager to do it. I essentially had to ask what they DID have that I could order. Third time was NOT a charm.I’m eating at home for now on.
All I can say good is we tried a new place and our waitress was good! If, you like your food cold this is the place to go! The plate was warm but not the food. Told the waitress and they just microwave the dish and made the bowl warm again but still had cold food. The shrimp and grits is actually better at Don's Seafood. Cena puts this fried pancetta as edible garnish on the dish that smells like it was deep fried and fried and fried again in old rotten oil. My wife ordered Fusilli, bowl was warmer then the food. It didn't taste good at all and she returned it.

Very good food and very nice romantic atmosphere. This is one of my favorite places in Hammond for special occasions. Really enjoyed the scallops. Service was excellent. Would definitely recommend.
