I have been to multiple different Don's Seafood locations and always return for their exceptional hush puppies. This was my first time visiting the Hammond location. Today, I ordered the 12-piece hush puppies and they were absolutely terrible. To me, they seemed like a cheap frozen hush puppy versus the larger, fresher ones that I've enjoyed at every other Don's restaurant. These were not warm and were tough and chewy. I let our server know, but hope this wasn't their daily version of hush puppies. I am giving them 3 stars only because all other food was good.

The absolute worst seafood I have had. I will never eat at any Don’s again. The seafood was mushy and the breading fell off. I cannot understand how this place is still in existence, especially here in Louisiana.

I ordered the gumbo, which had good flavor but was extremely salty. The side of rice was disappointing — it was hard, dry, and not fresh, almost like a solid chunk that couldn’t be broken with a spoon or fork. My wife’s dish was also very salty, and the portion sizes were quite small, even for her, and she’s usually a light eater.
The waiter did offer to bring fresh rice, but by the time she came back, I had already finished the gumbo and left the rice aside. I didn’t come looking for a discount — just wanted to enjoy a good meal — but I was surprised that nothing was offered to make up for the issues. In most restaurants, they would at least replace the dish or offer a small discount, but that didn’t happen here.
On a positive note, our waiter was excellent: very friendly and attentive throughout our visit.

I came in with a large party on Sunday. We were celebrating birthdays of three elders in the family. Cam and Maddie were amazing. They made our gathering very pleasant and were very attentive. Thanks to them both. I know we were a handful!
