While we are here visiting Lousiana to watch our son's college baseball team, we couldn't wait to get some good fresh seafood. Leaving the airport we met a very nice couple that suggested Don's seafood as their son works at Dons. They highly recommended we try it as they "have the best fresh seafood". There were 5 of us, two if us got the Stuffed shrimp which was basically shrimp stuffed with a bread stuffing no crab meat whatsoever. Another dish was the fried catfish, it was well done. One of them had the crab au grautin which was very watery and had too much Cajun spice. The best thing we ordered was the Redfish. Three of us in the party were missing one of our sides as each dish was supposed to come with 2 sides. The waitress forgot our coffee which was ordered when we sat down. The salad and gumbo came out with the meal instead of before hand and we had to ask for the salad. The sides and potatoes that we did get were cold, the mashed potatoes were cold and cheese was not melted. Once food was delivered we never saw our server Chole again. When I went up to ask someone about the sides she was mingling and talking up front with the hostesses. After I asked the bartender about the sides that we were missing she went and told the manager. I noticed Chloe, the manager and the bartender we asked about it talking in the kitchen doorway about it and the manager didnt come over to acknowledge anything nor did the server. I have worked in food and beverage industry for the last 30 years. I think the prices were higher than they should've been for the quality of the food. And quite frankly, the service was just as bad. Unfortunately Don's was a huge disappointment.

Garlic butter too salty on toast, plain blan fried catfish. Then they SERVE HOT FRIED CATFISH OVER COLD FRIES. ENJOYED THE BLUEBERRY MARGARITA. Should at least offer light seasoned fried food.

If you love seafood, especially the charbroiled oysters, this is the place to go. If your not a seafood lover, then they have good options also. The staff is super friendly, and everyone is super attentive. The atmosphere is very welcoming and relaxing.

Grilled fish and sides were excellent. Stuffed crab was good, Fried shrimp were tough...2 oysters, 4 small pieces fish, 2 oysters, 1 stuffed shrimp...my plate was sparse. Our waitress Cassidy was very nice and attentive!

Stopping in Hammond after driving all day and ate at Dons before checking in hotel for the night. Great choice! Service was very good…attentive and friendly! Food was great from the Crawfish Dinner to the Gumbo. White Chocolate Bread Pudding was delicious. The only drawback was the Jacked Up Oysters were too small but otherwise very tasty version of chargrilled oysters.
