This is my new favorite hang out. MJ is probably the best bar tender in the Hammond area. Looking forward to meeting everyone else soon.

Laid back, chill atmosphere. Definitely a good low key place to have a few drinks & visit with friends. Only met Claire & Sandy both very friendly.

Small and feels like you are sitting in an ashtray.
Despite living nearby, It is extremely rare that I visit this type establishment on the Northshore, opting instead to go to NOLA. Though hesitant to visit, based on appearance, I took a chance one Friday and was pleasantly surprised. The bartenders, Nancy and Claire, were very friendly, welcoming, and attentive to their customers. The scheduled live band, Loose Change, opened their set with Stevie Ray Vaughn's "Pride and Joy". I was thrilled. I look forward to this band's return. I'm glad that I took the chance.Though small, there are two pool tables, a horseshoe bar, a dance floor, a few tables for seating, as well as seating outside if one prefers. You can even chunk darts if a band isn't scheduled. There is also a music vending machine. I refuse to call that thing a Juke Box. I wouldn't be surprised if it had everything from "Beethoven's 5th" to "My Ding-a-ling", the latter being confirmed. The crowd is mixed, but mostly more mature regulars. I will most certainly be falling into the latter category. Smoking is allowed but credit cards are not, so take cash. There is an ATM for a $3 fee. Liquor stocked is limited, but I'm sure you can find something acceptable like I did. Show up regularly and they might even stock your request. Pricing is very reasonable with specials on select days. If you get hungry, they'll throw a Red Baron pizza of your choosing in the oven at the back of the bar. If you're lucky, there might be a spread at the back wall on select nights. Few patrons seem to be hungry here. I'm one that eats and drinks.I grew up in Texas in the '60s and '70s. Back then we called this a "Honky Tonk." I'll frequent this one and adopt it as my honky tonk.
