We celebrated our daughter’s 24th birthday here last night, while it was many of the guests first time, others hadn’t been to the restaurant in years. The atmosphere was very intimate and warm, our area was well prepared, we had enough space for our party of 12. Upon sitting, our waiter “Court or Cort” took drink orders, was attentive to everyone and he answered our questions and concerns without hesitation. We were disappointed that the restaurant “ran out” of crab cakes; only one person from our party was able to order crab cakes before we were told they were out…very disappointing because mostly everyone was having that as an appetizer. Note: Reservations were at 6:30p on a Friday night. We all proceeded to order entrees, we waited 45mins for the food to start flowing out. As we waited, I asked our waiter if there were any breads that were available to us as we waited; there were no complimentary breads available. A few entrees that I remember were, steak tips (small portion), fish of the day which I had and it was absolutely delicious!!!, surf and turf, lasagne and salad with grilled shrimp which all received high praise. Our waiter lit the candles on the cake when it was time and also served everyone with a slice. I rated this review 4 stars across the board because of the crab cakes, the surprise up-charge when using a credit or debit card (which we did not notice on the menu or wasn’t told before ordering our meals), the 45min wait for food and a few guests rated their meal a 3/10. We will definitely visit again, overall we were pleased with the experience.

As always, they didn't disappoint. Gave us a glass of champagne for our anniversary. Such a romantic atmosphere. The fish was fantastic.

Have loved Jacmel’s atmosphere since 1982. We went about three years ago and were disappointed by a limited menu but decided to give it another chance last Saturday. My husband ordered the duck which came as a drumstick—small portion. I ordered the halibut special. It came out cold. I got the attention of hostess, and she took it back. They heated it and plated it nicely—amazingly it had a sauce on it second time. Waiter said it should have been there the first time. It was a very small portion for $50. I remember when the entrees came with Jacmel’s salad and bread. Everything is extra now.

Had never been before. Went for a birthday dinner for party of 6. Server was very sweet but was not very attentive, food took two hours to come to the table, (mind you we came on a relatively slow tuesday night) drinks took 30 minutes, we wanted champagne to split and majority was wasted as it bubbled over from overfilling the glasses, so we all had to pour our glasses into the final glass so that everyone had some, served us 4 pieces of bread for the charcuterie board for 6 people, we asked for bread 3 times but never received it and the board was mainly dips aka needed bread for everything, no fruit or nuts, and veryyyy small portions for the price. We finally received our food at 9:30 (30 minutes after close) and at that point everyone was just ready to leave so we asked the food to be boxed up. At this point we asked to speak with a manager and the bartender came instead with free shots (I think her name was Liz and she was the best part of the night besides the very sweet hostess who we saw more of then our actual server). She explained the situation but it seems like they need better chefs in the back if there was any working that night at all. As for the server she was sweet but maybe switch professions girly. Unfortunately, this will be my first and last time coming here, way better options in Hammond.

There was mold on my dessert.
Sat down at 6pm, left at 8:15. Had 4 different servers and they all forgot our table. Asked 3 of them for diet coke because they never brought it each time. They also forgot to get us forks after we asked so I had to walk to another table to take forks off of.

We visited Jacmel Inn for a birthday brunch. Just a small family gathering. Cole, our server, was great - very personable, knowledgeable about the menu. The food was reasonably priced, but mediocre.

We had the charcuterie and pork belly for appetizers, both were delicious. Our party ordered chicken & pancakes, chicken & biscuits, the breakfast burger and the oyster entree. I ordered and did not enjoy the Shrimp & Grits. It had a very overpowering seafood taste and smell. Being from New Orleans, I’ve had lots of variations of Shrimp & Grits and this missed the mark. The egg on the burger was more raw than sunny side up and the biscuits were over cooked.

Dessert was disappointing and absolutely priced too high for the portions. We ordered cheesecake and key lime pie for the table. Both were small mini sized desserts priced at $12 and $13. Definitely not worth the price and with a party of five, each person was only able to have one bite of each. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll ever be back.

As a business owner myself I pay very close attention to details and staff. I’m also very mindful on leaving reviews because I know how important they are. The food at Jacmel Inn was absolutely amazing — 10/10! Every bite was full of flavor and clearly made with care. However, the experience with the hostess could’ve been better. We were told we didn’t have a reservation, which felt unnecessary to point out considering there were only a few other customers in the restaurant. The candle was not lit on the table and after our meal we decided to go out to the courtyard. The hostess was outside and started cutting the lights off before we made it out. It was 9:43pm. A warmer welcome would’ve made the experience perfect, and a little more attention to detail would have been nice but overall, the food made it worth the visit. The chef saved the night :)

Where do I begin?...
I'll start off by saying our party of 9, were the one of two tables in the entire restaurant at the time of our visit.
Service: Sub par to say the least. Out of two tables (9 and 4) our waiter would dissappear and not be seen for stretches of 30 minutes. Waters left empty..... Cocktails empty.... and when we did get a drink the bartender would bring them out.
Food: Over priced, bland, and cold. Not a single person had anything nice to say about their appetizer or main course. For a fine dinning establishment I'd have to say waffle house would have been a better option!!!
Overall I wouldn't recommend this place at all. One and done. If I'm footing a 200+ meal for two guests I need something.... anything!!!!! 20% gratuity for someone who visited the table 3 times in a spand of almost 3 hours?!? Steer clear of this place.
I left feeling taken advantage of.

Food was great but the service was terrible. The waitress told us we were there during happy hour and told us the specials. We ordered a few things off of it and specified that we wanted the happy hour ones. When the bill came she had charged us full price and argued with us about how that is not what we ordered. My husband had 2 bites of my French onion soup to try and she charged us a sharing fee. She never came to refill our drinks or check on us until the bill when there was only 1 other table. If this is how the serve will be from now on we will not be coming back.

I’ve been a customer of this restaurant for several years. Unfortunately, last night we received a below average service. Most upscale restaurants offer complementary French bread and butter which has been available here for years but they don’t anymore even if you want to pay for it. There was only one waiter handing the dining area by the bar and she was also taking care of a wedding upstairs. She took orders on the run and was way too busy to refill our glasses with water. My daughter wanted a second cup of tea and she had to wait over 25 minutes to get the waiter attention. We asked for the dessert menu and she took nearly 15 minutes to bring it and when ordered dessert she turned around in a hurry and ran before we could ask for coffee. Our meal took about 1 hour and 45 minutes. The food was great but I was getting anxious to the point that I almost asked for carry out instead of dining in.

We had a wonderful dining experience for brunch. Our server, Cameron G, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The bread board was amazing, as was the boudin balls, gnocchi, and French onion soup. We will definitely recommend and return to this gem in Hammond.
