“I grew up in NYC loving the food in Chinatown, so when a local friend suggested we have lunch at Hong Minh in nearby Harvey, I thought "oh no, suburban Chinese food... blah." I quickly shed my preconceptions once food started arriving at our barebones table in a plain-Jane dining room in this nondescript strip mall. Dang! This is easily up there with the best Chinese food you'll find anywhere in the country. Highlights include BBQ pork, roasted duck, salt & pepper string beans and Singapore mei fun. I asked one of the owners who was taking a break from hacking up roast ducks what part of China they were from and he said "Hong Kong and Taiwan, NOT China." Take that, China and preconceptions!“
“I am genuinely surprised by the other reviews. My husband and I were visiting NOLA and stopped into Boomtown for dinner and a place to sleep. It was hard to find a restaurant in the casino WITH a bar. We settled here for food and when the server found out we were looking for drinks too, she went to the other bar in the casino and grabbed us beers. She was so sweet and accommodating. Also, the pho here is AMAZING. I am from the east coast and it blew me away. Very authentic and delicious. Serving was huuuuugee and reasonably priced. This place is a well kept secret in the city apparently by the lack of reviews.Ambiance is nice. And it seemed other patrons were happy with their food. There was a long line for take out when we showed up. If we lived locally, I would for sure be a repeat customer getting their pho. ??“
“Food, cocktails & service are all top notch. Recommend sitting at the chef’s counter if you get the chance…it’s a great way to watch the craftsmanship that goes into every dish. We will definitely go back next time we’re in town.“
“So happy we tried this restaurant. Three of us shared a variety of dishes and all were full of flavor, we could not stop exclaiming over the food. We sampled both the raw and cooked seafood and the egg cloud soup was delightful. Wine offerings added to our experience.“
“We are so glad we got a chance to eat here. The food was wonderful and service friendly. The prices are a bit high and the space is small, but overall we felt it was worth it. We tried: shallot dip, pork knuckles, coal roasted mushrooms, coal roasted sweet potato, cornbread, pickles, yardbird plate and chocolate cake. Everything was good! The favorites were the yardbird and sweet potato. And the cake was excellent.“
“This place is too much culinary fun to miss! How could you not want to try well made food that is a creative fusion of Vietnamese, Cajun, some Thai and even Indian elements? We had the coconut queso which was very OMG, the fried wings Nuac Mam sauce (juicy, crispy, intense with the sour/salty/sweet - I'd get them again but try the Vindaloo style next time out of curiosity), the chicken pho (wonderful!), and the daily special pork pho which has something like 7 different kinds of pork including belly, bacon, roasted, etc.My only regret was getting the pork pho, it was just too intense for me where I felt unwell eating it even though it was beautifully made. Too hardcore lardcore for me! I felt like it was more a dish made to satisfy a dare, but I bet there are plenty of folk out there ready to throw down a 7 different pork pho - and to you, I say I dare you to get it here!We drove out from out hotel in the Central Business District, and while this restaurant is in a quiet strip mall by a US military recruiting center, the neighborhood it is in is very cute. Full of charming small historic house getting spruced up by young adults, very hip. It was a neighborhood full of the right clientele to appreciate a vivid and offbeat place like this.“
“This place is the jam! So happy to have experienced delicious high quality Thai food in the city. Ive been on a mission to find a good Thai go to, and this may be it! The drunken noodles were some of the best ive had and the salad dressing should be bottled and sold, so yummy and peppery. My only complaint was the service, it wasn't horrible but i had to get up twice to find the waitress to ask for things. I was one of two tables so that's hard to accept. Saying that, the food was incredible and the chef came out and was adorable and very warm. Will definitely give service another try or just do take out, but regardless will be back!Vegetarian options: Easy to leave off the protien anld make it veggie!Parking: At the time i went for lunch, there was plenty of street parking as well as an adjacent lot“
“Everything is great! When I go it’s so hard to decide what to get it’s that good! Cannot go wrong with anything you order!! It’s definitely a must try! great customer service, great vibe,& Amazing people!! Always a great experience when i visit!“

“A great Vietnamese place on Canal. The pho was exceptional and they have amazing specials (like mirlitons). You will definitely find something great to eat here. Service was exceptional and lunch was quick and so good! Don't miss out on this great place.“
“Hernando and the manager Sean were great hosts! The food was absolutely fantastic too. I got the pepper steak and the sauce, steak, peppers, and onion had real amazing flavor when eaten together. For dessert my wife and I shared the wall of chocolate which was a very impressive slice of chocolate cake that was as delectable as a warm chocolate brownie. And it being served with the strawberries and blueberries was perfect. My wife and I were dipping the fruit in the warm semi melted chocolate frosting and it really made for a great taste.“
“Incredible place to dine! This was my wife and my self’s first time at a Japanese BBQ. Our waiter, hate that I can’t remember his name, was excellent!! He helped us understand how the establishment worked and gave us great suggestions on the cuts of meat to order! Definitely will recommend to anyone thinking about choosing this place!“
“A good sushi place with high end sushi prices. We live right in the neighborhood and been here only a few times since they've opened. The sushi is good, and their fried rice and eggrolls are fantastic. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is ok, but not memorable.Problem for us is we leave feeling like we overpaid. For example, a basic snow crab roll is $9, add in tax and tip and you're looking at $12 for a single snow crab roll. Specialty rolls end up at $25 apiece final cost. If everything on the menu were $4-5 cheaper, this would be a fantastic place to get sushi. As is, it's a convenient neighborhood sushi spot, but maybe not the best place for value-minded guests.“
“I've been coming here since I was a little girl and I still love this place! Food and drinks are always consistent. It is always clean inside and the customer service is great. I love that they use fresh fruits for the smoothies. My favorite thing to get is the avocado smoothie with boba!“
“It's not the fanciest place in town but gosh was this a great place to get food, I had fried tofu and the Spicy Ichimi Ramen and everything from the texture to the broth was killer. Nice lady working the counter took take out, to go, and dine in patrons and was very attentive. Sure the place is open and a little older but the feel was immediately outdone by the taste and speed which the meal was delivered. I cannot wait to go back“
“It's not fancy, but who doesn't love affordable tasty Chinese food for either dine-in or ideally delivery or takeout. Many other cities have places like this all over town but NOLA is a bit lacking - and the high-priced pretentious Chinese joints opening over the past years just aren't great. Ming Garden has reliable, very good Chinese food of both the authentic and decidedly non-authentic variety. General Tso is very good as is Kung Pao and Mongolian Beef. Lo Mein is fine but I've certainly had much better. But for most people this will be one of the better Chinese options in town, definitely give it a try.“
“An unexpected wow. Great food service and atmosphere. I met a friend in the area to talk business . we arrived before the dinner crowd. We ordered each a bowl of soup and some egg rolls as appetizers . My associate had the Hot sour soap . I had the wanton. Before my soup arrived I saw one of the ladies at a table making the wontons from scratch. I admired her technique. She convinced me to order two different types of dumplings she made from scratch as well. All was top notch. I never write reviews . These people deserve credit for an excellent meal . “I have been wanting to eat Bun Bo Hue and my friend brought me here claiming their Bun Bo Hue is very good. It indeed was. Had great flavor. It didn't disappoint. I asked for mild but next time I might try medium spice. Love their crab ragoons. My friend got the vermicelli bowl which looked great. I will definitely be back to try other dishes.“
