Stumbled upon this place while running errands with my partner. Everything was delightful. Don’t be dissuaded by the outside in its slight ambiguity. Inside is clean and well lit. The service was incredibly attentive and friendly. The two ladies that took our orders were adorably nice. The chef, Kevin (who I figured out his name because when two other people came in they said hi to him by name enthusiastically) was so sweet. He made sure to triple check on some dietary restrictions for my boyfriend. He was incredibly detailed when I asked him about the dish I was enjoying. We had never had Cantonese food before, and it is fantastic. The worst part was just now when I finished my leftovers at home, because the dish is no longer in front of me to enjoy. Sincerely looking forward to trying more things on our next visit. :)

I recently found out about Hawaii City and it’s one of my new favorite restaurant on the WB.
I went with my family and we enjoyed everything! The food was great and Kevin, the owner was very personable, friendly, and talkative in a good way.
We had the Salt and Pepper wings, shrimp, and green beans, shrimp and pork fried rice (separate items), and the spring rolls. The food was delicious and the wings are memorable. I woke up the next day with those wings on my mind. All food is made when you order so it's super fresh.
Also, the lemonade is made to order and the ices tea is sweetened to your taste. What a great touch!
If you haven't tried this place, please run to taste this great food!

DAMN. This is hands down the BEST Hong Kong style Chinese food I’ve ever had. We had the beef chow fun and the salt and pepper wings with pork fried rice and just kept saying wow between each bite. Fresh, flavorful, authentic flavors that are not your typically American Chinese grease joints. It was so good I called back to tell them just how delicious it was. I can’t wait to try other menu items. Absolutely going back, worth the 20 minute drive from the east bank.

This review is long overdue, but after my third amazing catering experience with Hawaii City, I had to finally give this gem its flowers.
I’ve used them for three separate catering orders, and every time, the service and quality have been absolutely top-tier. Today, I had a last-minute request to feed a room full of second graders—chicken wings and fried rice—and the owner didn’t even blink. He answered the phone with the same warmth and respect he always does and found a way to make it happen.
When you walk in, you’re greeted like family. He even helped me carry everything to my car, which is such a rare and appreciated touch. And let’s talk about the food: it’s always fresh, flavorful, and consistent. My son’s classmates tore through those wings and rice like it was their last meal.
If you’re craving Chinese food or need to place a large order or cater an event, I strongly recommend Hawaii City. Support this kind, hardworking local business—you won’t regret it.

Don’t come for the atmosphere, come for the food! Salt and pepper frog legs were amazing! Ask about anything available not on the menu, “special menu”. The owner is so personable, food is fresh and flavorful

Went for lunch with my wife. We ordered the salt and pepper wings to share (peppers are jalapenos). I ordered the lunch Curry chicken with pork fried rice. Wife ordered Chow fun. Everything was good. Curry was mild heat with good curry flavor. Chow fun was excellent. Wings were very good. Plenty of salt but with good pepper flavor
