I was "lent" to LP&L from HL&P back in 1980 for hot startup testing for a year. I found out that was the best part of Nuclear Plant Operations in general; everything else was so boring. The Start-Up Engineers at Waterford were very creative and fun to work with. Unfortunately, we only had a few of the same caliber back in Texas when I got back to start-up our plant.

Great Place to work ..It is a very professional workforce at that plant..People are very helpfulAnd polite and courteous to each other..Even short term outages..Excellent Restaurant ..I thought the food was very good there.

Since taking over a little over a year ago, the food overall has taken a downward trend. The selections are smaller, the food less tasteful. I miss the previous contractors that ran it before. A last resort for food options.

Last time I ordered a burger from here, I couldn't finish it. I wish I could say it was bc my eyes were bigger than my stomach. It was disgusting. Have you ever opened a can of dog food and slid it out? Now imagine if you sliced that dog food log into patties, put it on a bun with some wilted lettuce and a soggy tomato. Hot lunch isn't any better; can of Sysco meat with a can of Sysco sauce on top served with a side of Sysco canned veggies. Breakfast is ok I guess. But it's kind of hard to mess up eggs and bacon. Except if you get scrambled eggs they use the "scrambled eggs" from a carton. You can't blame the workers. Some of them are leftover from the previous company that ran this place when the food was better, not great but better. They are doing the best they can with what they're given to work with. And the guy that manages this place claims to be a chef. Even has his own catering business. I'm sure he is probably a decent cook. But he has a contract with a guaranteed minimum profit or something (the owner of the facility won't release the details but has confirmed the general idea). Combined with a captive audience of employees who can't go off site to eat and you have a recipe for mediocrity.
I just finished my first outage there. Great pay & environment. Entergy really took care of us
