Best BBQ I've ever had i dont know what the schizo is talking about I ate here yesterday the staff is lovely if I could I would give them a million dollars.
To my knowledge, this place has been shut down for some time and is no longer a restaurant.
Wonderful BBQ. Our first southern BBQ in a very long time. The returning regulars were a testament to the food.
While the name is shack, it's more of a small house. Whatever, they make darn good bbq. As noted, the sliced turkey was a highlight. Brisket also top-notch. Pork very good as well. I do not think you can go wrong here. They also sell sandwiches in three sizes, which makes it easy to sample and/or match order to appetite.
The brisket is lean and has the freshly smoked smell and taste. FANTASTIC. The “Johnny” brisket sandwich with cole slaw and jalapeños looks that it would be also if you like that “Carolina style.” The excellent sweet bbq sauce goes well with it; the other regional bbq sauces all looked credible and authentic. Another customer mentioned twice how good the turkey is (I did not taste that). Cornbread is sweet and cake-like (like Boston Market)- it’s very good. The cheddar jalapeño sausage was okay only, the collards were sweet vinegar- tasted great. I appreciate that style rather than soaked in pork. The banana pudding had real ingredients but tasted airy and spongey to me. This is a very humble takeout, with friendly, respectful service and good value; remember it is takeout with a limited menu. The brisket at $17 pound is the one to get. I suspect the turkey and ribs, likewise.
Absolutely wonderful smoked food - some of the tenderest and tastiest Beef Brisket in the area. Family owned and very friendly wrokers. Very limited seating - people sit on porch during good weather. Caution on the hours - They close early and don't have dinner hours. Give it a try - I have spoken with customers who have driven a good distance because this place is so good!
Mac n cheese OH MY! Hubby went after a soccer tournament and says it is a must! Our son loved the cornbread. Amazing BBQ & my hubby loved the brisket.
Food was fabulous, dining in-not so much. This is definitely a take out place, if you want to enjoy it. The dining room has two tables and a small counter. The bathroom is right off the dining room with the door open and toilet lid up.
Nothing fancy but great delicious food love this place. A little small but good for take out too. People travel from all over Hampton Roafs to this place.
If you prefer a locally owned place with good old fashioned food and friendliness, this is it. Staff and other patrons friendly and hospitable. Food very good, simple fare of bbq, brisket , turkey with claims of on premises smoking. Lots of side choices including collards and sweet potatoes. We got bbq platter of pulled pork, flavorful and clean. Sides of baked beans were good, collards and sweet potato delicious. Too full to try dessert but maybe next time. Prices very reasonable. Service was quick even though it was packed with the line out the door. Lots of parking available. Limited seating inside and outside on the porch. Atmosphere inside is simple and comfortable. Quantities were okay, I could’ve eaten more of the sides as they were smallish but considering the price the meal was a great value for the money. We will be back perhaps to try the brisket.
Restaurantji Recommends
I picked up an order from here today to feed my film crew of 11 guys. The lead production assistant was happy about the price, and everyone was impressed with the food. Pick n Pack is a good deal. Highly recommend this place to anyone for pretty much any reason. Personally, I loved the vinegar sauce. So good! Super friendly service, too. Definitely worth checking out and chowing down.
