From the outside aesthetics, this isn't a place that I would commonly visit. Bars on the window are usually a no for me. But we stopped in based on a referral from a friend. And boy was it worth it! The food was well priced and tasted absolutely amazing. I always get grilled shrimp, and it did not disappoint.

And a good family place, not too hot or cold and not loud or too crowded. I was so disappointed with the food, I got the Eggplant Casserole with Shrimp and Crabmeat it came with Pasta. Well the Eggplant Casserole was okay the Pasta came in a bowl topped with a red sauce, at the bottom of the bowl was like a half inch of water. I stirred it up and proceeded to eat the spaghetti, no taste at all .So so disappointed . The service was great. The waitress was awesome, she was all alone and she handled, a table of 8,and a table of two and my husband and myself and was also the cashier and there was a customer waiting for an order to go.Maybe stick with the seafood?

Went for dinner while on a fishing trip to the area. They had a solid menu of local cuisine served in a casual atmosphere. I had the fried catfish platter and the gumbo and enjoyed it. Good portions.

When we arrived there are many regulars, which were an older demographic.. food was basic and plain . Service was good and the AC was broken. Prices are good. We ordered fried fish w/ shrimp and okra creole , then crawfish etoufee, and gumbo. Okra serving was not shy just seems very bland. Fried fish was nicely battered and fried but lacked flavor. Maybe it's me.. Maybe my pallet doesn't run the same. Seems like more of a local residence favorite hot spot. You can tell bc they have a wall of original pictures of their guests.

Recommended by a Jean Lafitte park volunteer. Made a perfect quick lunch after the park ranger tour at the park. Nice po-boys , cole slaw similar to KFC (which I love), gumbo. green salad. We had what they called "stuffed crab" which we learned was something like crab cake but much more moist. The side of Jambala was just very nice seasoned rice but no other chunks of goodies. Friendly staff and nice neighborhood restaurant.
