These are the tamales I grew up on. Don't get me wrong, the Mexican tamales we could get in SoCal were authentic and tasty in their own right but it's apples to oranges. These are the real deal when it comes to authentic New Orleans style tamales. They have a different flavor profile altogether. Maybe it's the nostalgia kicking in but these are the best.
