We live in New Orleans and visit Jefferson Island and Cafe Jefferson once a year or so. We end up coming for brunch and staying 3 to 4 hours. The food is wonderful! On our last visit, October 5, 2024, our group ordered crab meat au gratin, chicken sauce piquant, eggplant Michelle, and crawfish etouffee. Cajun staples. Guess what? They were better than my mama makes. Better than I make! Also, where can you have food and drink on land at 75 feet elevation overlooking the water in south Louisiana? Nowhere else but Jefferson Island. Thanks to Mike Richard and his staff for making this such an inviting place to get together with friends and enjoy the beautiful paradise that south Louisiana is. We'll be back. We always will. Come and tour the Joseph Jefferson Home and enjoy the restaurant, the gardens, the grounds, the history, the lake, Delcambre, and New Iberia.

I've tried the food here a few times and I haven't been disappointed yet. The food is so delicious. It is a bit pricey but it's so worth it. The staff is awesome. They always do a great job even when their swamped. The place itself is really nice. The grounds are always beautiful. If you haven't been then your definitely missing out

Flawless vibes at this charming café, where we ended our morning of touring the Rip Van Winkle gardens and Jefferson house. It was perfect weather for sitting outside and enjoying the view of Lake Peigneur, but I think sitting inside the glass porch during the rain would be lovely too. I got the chick-a-lada sandwich, I got a half but only ate a quarter, and the rest was a tasty supper later that day. Huge portion. My partner got a classic club sandwich and enjoyed it quite a bit. Prices were fair and food was hot and fresh. Waitresses were friendly and the outside sitting area was just perfect, even if a peacock was begging for chips.😜

Wonderful place to eat and view lovely lakeside landscape. Chef salad was enuf for three meals!! Hot rolls and butter was the sleeper on the menu. Brought to the table free, piping hot. Delicious.

Wheelchair accessibility: Stairs up to gift shop and restaurant level. Didn't see a ramp, but sure there was one. Once you got onto restaurant level, no access problems.

Superb menu and hospitality!
Visitors will love these beautiful historic treasures and gardens of the deep south.
A Sunday drive after church services thru the sugar cane fields is just beautiful during the greens of Summer.
And make sure to try the bread pudding and local roasted coffee before leaving. Bon Appétit!
