I LOVE this place! We try to goas often as we can.

Typically, the service is great but when we went, there was a small communication issue with the hostess stand and they waitress for outside. After waiting a while, I went inside just to be told I had to get reseated out side by the hostess stand. I told them the hostess told me to sit anywhere outside since there was all but one table open to sit at .

Any way the waitress I put the order with inside wás extremely friendly and she kept our outside table even though I guess her section really was inside.

We love lots of things on the menu but I tend to get the half chef salad and sweet tea. The portion is MASSIVE and I always end up with leftovers with is a bonus!

They bring out hot, fluffy, wonderful bread while you wait.

I recommend to go on a nice, sunny day so you can sit outside. It is so peaceful, you are under the big trees that give you shade, even in the hot summer months and you get the outdoor experience. Inside is great too if you want to be indoors but it can get loud if they are busy with all of the conversations happening at one time.

I had the Seafood Heaven which was listed on the menu as having a basil cream sauce. There was absolutely no hint of basil flavor, even mildly, and no basil visible, even by slight coloration, in the sauce. It was extremely bland and made even worse by having undissolved chunks of flour in the sauce, which had the consistency of gnocchi. The only saving grace was the delicious, fresh, jumbo Gulf shrimp, and lump crab meat, which were delicious. Still, hard to swallow at the market price of $30. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the grounds are beautiful. We did note the gentleman at the table sitting next to us return his sandwich, which was then replaced with a bowl containing another menu item. Maybe just not a good day for Cafe Jefferson.

A very neat experience. Most kind and helpful staff. I especially liked the lady Alexia who took our orders for dining! The initial lady in the gift shop was great, too! All in all the place is truly magical and breath taking! Its a true experience. If you live in Louisiana you have to go. If your are mot from Louisiana you have to go. Now this is in early summer. Plan for spring and early summer due to flowers and comfort. Ps there is wildlife and a tour to see this antique house with historical perks! You have to watch the film, too! Thank you
