Hands down the best fried catfish I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned, golden crispy outside, and flaky inside. Worth the trip every time.

Drove 45 minutes out our way for it to be closed at 11:30 on a Tuesday. Should really update their hours of service.
Okay so let me start off by saying I do not like to leave bad reviews. I was truly looking forward to eating here as I’m from out of town and had heard great things. Upon walking in there was no one at the counter which no biggie it happens. We waited a bit and someone peaked from the back and said she would be right with us. We took a minute to look at the menu they had on their front desk counter top. When the server walked up she informed us that the menu we were looking at was from the 50s and that the prices weren’t the same. We asked for a menu and she told us they were on the wall. On the wall was just dishes they served with no prices. We asked for the prices and she rolled her eyes and started to list a few things off but what upset me was that she lead with “the cheapest thing they had was chicken tenders” that’s great we just wanted a menu with pricing and we were a tad frustrated at that point. We placed our order and waited off to the side when an older couple comes in and they begin to ask the same questions because it’s truly confusing and she scoffs again, rolls her eyes followed by listing the items and prices with an attitude. We asked for ketchup and we didn’t get any so we went back inside which Stephanie another server KINDLY helped us get some. I’m leaving a 3 star review because no server should be rude to older customers, the food wasnt half bad and STEPHANIE saved the day by providing great customer service unlike the other rude lady that wasn’t wearing a name tag so I can’t name directly. Just wanting to give a heads up to anyone out of state like myself!

I Love the food is great. I remember them being on the Glenmora ,La/ Pitkin,La Hwy that's when the old man had it. I remember walking it reminded me so much of Polly's Catfish Kitchen if I'm not mistaking they were friends. My mom worked at Polly's Catfish Kitchen down towards Oberlin,La Great Environment both places.

Carl's is great! The service is always good and the food never disappoints. Thin & crispy catfish and fried shrimp are my favorite choices when crawfish is not an option. They also have a good salad bar.

Catfish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Coleslaw was great and available on the salad bar. Service was right on the money with friendly staff. Much better than Roy’s Catfish in Kinder. Well worth the drive to Oakdale. Priced right and I’ll definitely be coming back.

So glad this place reopened in Oakdale. It’s managed by husband and wife team. The husband cooks and the wife is the waitress. Awesome service and food. They also have crawfish on the weekends during the season at the best prices in Oakdale. Catfish is perfectly tender and the salad bar is a nice touch for free. Large dining area

I remember Carl's. It was a great place to eat with good service. This... Is not Carl's. This is a zombie of an old memory that you remember fondly. Stuffed crab and hush puppies were badly burnt. Imagine the worst burnt food you've ever been served and then cook it another five minutes. And the inside of each were somehow undercooked. Fish and fries were soggy and greasy with no crispyness. The fried oysters were disgusting. Barely half of the batter stuck to them. And they were cold, somehow... I paid $25 for this and feel like I was robbed. Do not eat here. It's not the place you remember. It's barely even food at this point. The salad was ok, but I didn't go there for the salad...

Second time there salad bar was out of most stuff. Didn't get utensils till later because they were being washed. Server was pretty much a ghost. Ordered fried fish platter fish smelt like it was cooked in burnt oil. Mushy and had burnt batter on it. Too busy worrying about boiling crawfish I guess. My wife needed sour cream for her potato but eventually gave up on waiting for it. Horrible service food was not what it used to be.
If ever you're in Oakdale Louisiana you really should stop here. Great atmosphere, extremely friendly, good food.

Our waitress was great. We thought the seafood batter could have had more seasoning, and the food was bland without much flavor. Again, the hospitality was great. I'd go again. Maybe just try something different.

This was outstanding! The food was amazing, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was cozy and nostalgic. I had visited the one in glenmora a lot as I grew up, and this brought back old memories. It was fun to throw the peanuts on the floor. (If you know you know) Our waitress was friendly and took out Picture happily. This place really shows southern hospitality. Can't believe this place has a single one-star review. Would come back again and again.
