Oh, let me tell y’all about Carville Deli in Plaquemine, LA—because when I say it’s giving, I mean it’s GIVING!!! Called them up after 10 am, and they were like, “Lunch is served, baby!” And you know I had to pull up.
Ordered the catfish plate, which, by the way, is basically a love letter to my taste buds. Mac and cheese comes standard—like, “don’t worry, we got you” vibes—and you get to pick two more sides. I went with potato salad and green beans because balance, okay? And whew, listen, EVERYTHING was seasoned like somebody’s Auntie put their whole elbow in it!
The catfish? Crispy, flavorful, a whole mood. The mac and cheese? Silky, cheesy, and just disrespectfully good. Potato salad and green beans? A supporting cast that understood the assignment. All this for about $12?! Baby, that’s recession-proof fine dining.
And let’s talk customer service—10/10. They had me feeling like family, and you know that’s rare these days. If you’re in Plaquemine and not at Carville Deli, what are you even doing with your life?! 🤣😭😂

Bad breakfast, rude/racist staff.Stopped there to get breakfast on the way to work. I’ve been there at least twice before and was disappointed at how long it takes them to serve. The lady before me, who was the same ethnicity as the breakfast server, made all these little demands and was very specific about her breakfast. The server served her without question with a smile. When it was time for me to order I asked for a large breakfast plate, with a lot of eggs, bacon, grits, biscuit, and two chicken tenders. I told her she could put it all in one plate to make it easy. She huffed and puffed and asked me repeatedly what I wanted despite me being clear. With an attitude, she put the food on the plate, then separated the tenders into there own bag even though I just asked her not to.Then she charged me $14 before tax for 4 small scoops of eggs, one scoop of grits, one biscuit, 3 soft and soggy pieces of bacon, and two chicken tenders. The eggs are terrible and gritty. They look like those gross powdered eggs. The bacon is soft. The grits have no flavor. The biscuit was good. The tenders were good but a little dry and salty. She, a black woman, was clearly giving me, a white man, an attitude despite me being polite. The staff is rude, the service is slow, the place is dirty, and the food is awful. Go to the shell station just south of this gas station instead. The service is fast and there food is wayyyy better. Never going here again.
Everything about our dinner was wonderful! We loved the atmosphere and the great service and our meal was absolutely delicious!
