Like many others this week we saw an article about this restaurant and being a barbeque lover who's frequented spots like Killens and others famous spots on Texas I was keen to try.
Parking is odd but works. The place has about 9 or tables. So it doesn't take much to fill them up. I spoke with John the owner when I came in. Super friendly guy and the staff that manned the front were really positive and helpful. Extra marks for good personnel.
I ordered the burnt ends as an appetizer. The quality of the meat was excellent. Had a vinegar based bbq sauce in the presentation which I liked but the rest of my party preferred the standard smoked bbq sauce (it is very good).
We had a 3 meat plate with brisket, sausage (down home), and turkey. The brisket was well smoked and moist, nice change compared to some of the competition. Sausage was standard local down home which is to say great pretty light on the smoke honestly. I have a feeling it would be a bit heavier if you caught them during lunch. Finally turkey. Nicely smoked and very moist. The meats all impressed. The best BBQ in the area.
The sides were solid. Baked beans were better than average though not as good as Podnuhs. Mac and cheese was good but the noodles were a little firmer than my son cared for. Corn was... Corn. I was really looking forward to the dirty rice. It was not cooked enough. Kind of crunchy. It was the only slight letedown but seemed like it might have been great.
Finally drinks are bottled. With Shreveport water that's certainly understandable.
Definitely worth going to. Enjoy!
BBQ sauce was cold. Meat was not hot. Actually, only the beans were hot. The guy taking orders was very friendly but he didn't make any suggestions, as he stood there watching me decide what I wanted. I suggest they sit ppl down at a table who are eating in, instead of making them stand in line with the to-go orders.
All of the food was good.....minus the temperature not being what it should be.
Oh, and they were out of ribs. Atmosphere was decent for a greasy spoon joint. I definitely would have ordered dessert if I didn't have to get back in line to pay for it.
Overall, a decent experience. Kinda pricey but I wouldn't rule out going back when they have ribs.

The Brisket and Cheddar sandwich was great but the beans, OMG!! The absolute best baked beans I’ve ever eaten.

We were not impressed with the food. The service was great. The restroom is on the other side of the building with mentally disturbed people that make you very uncomfortable. I was nervous and kept watching behind me and locked the door fast to the restroom

The sides I didn’t like much. Didn’t like the coleslaw, had a weird after taste. The pecan cobbler didn’t have much flavor, neither did the potato salad. The Mac & cheese just tasted like smoked noodles. The barbecue sauce is really good, the ribs were my favorite. And meats were good, and the okra was good. Overall, mid in my opinion, not good enough to go back. (But the beer cheese bread was pretty good)

Quaint little place. From the very moment you walk through the wall (yes, through what looks like a wall) you are greeted with a cool little BBQ joint. The food was unbelievable! You have to order the corn and the burnt ends dirty rice. The brisket was as good as any I’ve had in Texas. When you’re in Shreveport, RUN don’t walk to the place. I will guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Oh, make sure you say YES to the homemade pork skins. The BEST I have ever eaten.

The food was great, and the options were plenty. We particularly liked the brisket and the ribs.
The street corn and the collard greens stole the show for the sides. The customer service was beyond Wonderful- from the beginning to the end.
My only recommendation is that they bring the food out hot- our food, (although the flavor was wonderful) was less than warm- Not sure if that's the standard or if it was just ours. But definitely willing to return again to give it another try! Certainly recommend- Give it a try!
Parking: We parked across the street in the parking lot of Subway, although there is a signed post warning against towing, it did not specify which customers were to park in the spaces so we assumed it was for the local restaurants.
Kid-friendliness: Kid, friendly and family friendly with a large big screen TV to watch as well.

Things you don’t expect. It’s in an old medical arts building next to the hospital. The service was impeccable. It had cool speakeasy vibes.
I didn’t expect this to be the best BBQ I’ve ever had outside of Texas. From the cracklings while you’re waiting, to the smoked brisket, to the Mac n cheese, to the okra. Perfection!

This place is great! We just wanted to try some place different from our regulars, and this was a great place to add to one of our regular places. Prices are good for what you get. The portions are just enough if you are watching your intake. Some may think small. But I see it as a step in the right direction, and you can have a great desert! We had a stacked beef sandwich, I had the corn on the cob with some crumbeled cheese, and my husband had coleslaw. We had sodas to drink. I had white chocolate bread pudding.

Found this by searching for bbq restaurant while in town. I was immediately excited by the "hidden" door entrance once inside the main door. I had the brisket and beans and those are a must try. Will be back next time I'm back in town
