El Cabo Verde Reviews
Hands down, best food in Shreveport. The staff is incredible, and it’s celiac friendly which is an extremely rare sight here in Shreveport. Plus their guacamole is out of this world. And oddly enough for a Mexican restaurant l, the French toast is spectacular!
This is one of my favorite restaurants and even when I don’t get to go as often as I would like, every time I go, the quality of the food and drinks is the best.
Today I went with my husband and toddler. We chose to eat outside because our son can get a little loud and wants to wander around.

El Cabo Verde is a charming, upscale restaurant known for its exceptional food and service. The restaurant offers a unique dining experience, especially its outdoor porch seating option. The staff is accommodating, friendly, and attentive, making customers feel welcome. The menu features unique dishes, such as chips and salsa, and the restaurant prides itself on using clean, exceptional ingredients. The ambiance is intimate and welcoming, although the music can be a bit loud.
The restaurant has received positive reviews from customers. Guests have enjoyed the flavorful salsa, with the Verde salsa having a nice garlicky punch and the Rojo salsa having pleasant citrus tones. The guacamole is also praised for being freshly made and perfectly seasoned. The ceviche is finely cut and packed with exquisite flavors. The entrées, served on freshly made tortillas, are highlighted by the sublime mole.
Chef Gabriel Balderas and his team are praised for their expertise and adherence to a "Slow Food" philosophy, evident in the scratch-made dishes that respect the carefully chosen local ingredients. The in-house nixtamalization of corn for the masa used in the corn tortillas is a standout example of the effort put into getting the best results.
