Hands down, best food in Shreveport. The staff is incredible, and it’s celiac friendly which is an extremely rare sight here in Shreveport. Plus their guacamole is out of this world. And oddly enough for a Mexican restaurant l, the French toast is spectacular!
Asked for spinach to be added to sweet potato enchiladas, which also had zucchini. Good food. Enjoyable ambiance, too. We were in town for a funeral and came back for dinner. Updated from previous review on 2025-07-19
Met a friend here for dinner.
It's the best for a reason--
Well, several reasons, actually.
Let's start with the salsa: even the Verde has an exquisite punch of flavours, with a nice garlicky mouthful that engrossed with tang; the Rojo has more heat but with pleasant citrus tones and what tastes like tomato.
The guacamole feels as if it's just freshly done out of the molcajete and is seasoned to perfection, smooth and creamy with every mouthful.
Try the ceviche, finely cut and packing that exquisite fineness in every little mouthful.
The entrées come in on freshly made tortillas where you can practically breathe in the masa harina, combined with a sublime molé--
I gorged myself and ended up not having any room for dessert.
All the more reason to come back--
Several reasons, actually.
Great food. Did not disappoint. Friendly staff
The best Mexican food I’ve ever had. As close to a gourmet Mexican restaurant as you can get
We ordered the Molcajete for two and only got three tortillas we ask for more and we’re charged for three more. The ratio of proteins were way off two strips of beef, shrimp, a ton of chicken and five or six shrimp. The tortillas didn’t come out with the meal. For $55 I would expect a lot more than that.
Excelent service and food!

Everything was excellent!
Maybe we caught them on a bad day but the food was very bland and the frozen margs were given to us almost entirely melted. Service was good and it was a nice location
They had a few items clearly marked that could be made vegan. Be aware the guacamole comes with cheese by default, so ask to have that removed😄

Gabriel Balderas and his crew are extremely good at what they do. Gabriel's adheres to a "Slow Food" philosophy that is evident in every aspect of the food that he serves. Scratch made dishes that respect the ingredients that he chooses from many local sources. Nixtamalizing corn for masa to make his corn tortillas in-house is the best example of taking the time and making the effort to get the best results.
Take your time, sit for a while, and enjoy any of the dishes that Gabriel and his staff prepare. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for a great meal, Chef!
