My son found this on Google, he is an old soul and loves old diners. I had a pimento cheese sandwich that brought me back to my childhood. My mom would fix them on occasion and it was always a good memory of her.

I had the gumbo. And as a local and lifetime Louisiana native it was fabulous! It wasn't spicy, but it had great flavour and was dark the way my grandma always made it. We were well taken care of despite coming in an hour before close. They even accommodated hearing a bottle for my baby. Must definitely will be back whether I stay to eat or take to go!

I normally stop by for lunch at least once a week. It's amazingly consistent. I'd be hard-pressed to pick a favorite there, but the pimento cheese ( I'm a pimento cheese fanatic) is stellar! All of the soups are good, and the bread pudding( available the first week of the month only) is worth the calories and then some. The apple pie ( a la mode of course) is delectable, and, if you're lucky, you'll dine when they have coconut cream pie available. This place is a Shreveport treasure.
I don’t even know where to start. I got a chicken salad sandwich which was delicious and full of chicken salad. It was also on regular white bread which was amazing because I don’t think you can get that anywhere anymore. It’s always some hard artisan crap. I also got two soups. Both homemade, cream of broccoli and clam chowder. Both delicious can’t imagine how you would improve them. Finally, the surprising star of the show was the chef salad, which I added in house marinated onions to. to be honest when I first opened it, I seen all this deliciousness from the meats and cheese and tomatoes and the onions and then a very small little cup of dressing, but let me tell you what buddy; big things come in small packages. With the onions already marinated in their homemade vinaigrette that little cup was all I needed. one of the best salads I’ve ever had in my life no cap. I’ll give this place a 8.5 out of 10 just to leave room to get better if that’s even possible. I cannot stress this enough to restaurants. You cannot beat simplicity and consistency. Jacquelyn’s is another diamond in the Louisiana rough and is officially getting added on the list next to Ernest’s of places to visit every time I’m in Shreveport/Bossier.
Friendliness atmosphere of a mom n pop place
I like this kind of simple no-nonsense place. Staff was friendly and tried to think along what I could order as a vegetarian. Just a salad it was. I got a large one. Somebody I was with got a small salad, but that was the same size as mine, but paid half for it. So I did feel a bit ripped off, especially as the sales was literally lettice and tomato's... Otherwise, well... the salad was fine, a bit over-dressed (to muched dressing).

Ist delivery order from this staple in Shreveport. I ordered sandwiches chicken salad had a smoky taste and shrimp salad both on wheat bread. The presentation was nice from the menu , I wasn't sure if the chips came with the sandwich but they are pictured on a plate . I ended up with extra potato chips. They weren't in a small bag but in a small take out container. There was also a pickle slice garnishing the meal . Sandwiches nicely cut in half. My favorite cake is German chocolate . One of my desserts ordered was the German chocolate pie and a slice of apple pie. Neither dessert was too sweet . For the apple pie I mainly tasted the cinnamon seasoning .

This is the kinda place I like to visit when I go on work trips. Little, hole in the wall diner that’s got great food for a good price. The atmosphere is friendly. The staff are personable and understanding. I’m eating here from now on whenever I come down. Love it!

I was probably 1 of the 1st 100 customers. It was fall of 83. I knew it was going to be exactly the kind of place I would love, and it has been for 40 years.Lately I've been reserving my Fri p.m. for some Gumbo, Crab Salad, and maybe if I've worked out in the a.m. I might add the Clam Chowder. So you might imagine how I might feel out of sorts that Greg Nuckolls's goal was just to target his own generation because most of regular customers had, unfortunately, gotten old. According to the latest copy of 318 FORUM.I have no idea who Greg Nuckolls is because I've never seen him in the restaurant. I used to see Jackie and Jimmy all the time.
