How do a seafood restaurant run out of one of its prime menu items. Was in town for a family visit and we decided to go to Orlandeaux for dinner. Up on arrival and placing our order only to discover they were out of stuffed shrimp. My purpose for having dinner there was for the stuffed shrimp. My night was ruined nothing else on the menu held my interest. Won’t be visiting anytime soon, for sure.

Fantastic, the service was absolutely ?, the appetizer shrimp were the best ever. All our entrees exceeded the reviews from others.

5301 South Lakeshore Drive is the current address. We went for dinner and the restaurant is everything we read and heard. Their web site is one of the most informative I have seen. Has a fabulous and long history as being the oldest and continuous operating African American family owned restaurant in the US, since 1921. From beginning to end the service was friendly and spot on, great customer service. The food is fresh made and the atmosphere is a Louisiana and local vibe. My husband who is a Louisiana native had the gumbo and fried shrimp with rice and gravy. He is super particular about his food and is an excellent cook and give the meal a 5 star. I had a burger, allergic to shell fish and it was made fresh to order. The fries were delicious and sprinkled with paprika. Nothing was over cooked or greasy and you got a lot of food for a reasonable price. Beautiful view of cross lake as well. We left full and happy and with an order of beignets. Really fab! Worth going too and we really enjoyed. Kay was our waitperson and was so kind to visit and take a picture or 2 as well. So genuine. as was everyone there and the guests too.

I am very upset that I just discovered this place in the last 6 months. My wife and I have been 6 times in 4 months which is pretty good considering we live an hour and half away. Everything is awesome from the seafood to the soul food. You will not have to pick up the salt or pepper because food is seasoned to the T. Reasonable prices and large portions. Be sure to try the stuffed shrimp.

Went there for lunch on a Saturday. Place was busy, but it was worth the wait. Everything we had was really good. Have to try the gumbo, it's one of my all-time favorites.

We love almost everything on their menu. We have tried almost everything. Their french fried onions are the best ever. They are for real. And the sprinkling of red pepper flakes gives them a whole new twist. I am going to start serving mine that way when I cook them at home. The stuffed shrimp recipe has changed though and they are just not as good as they used to be. Not sure why, I have wondered if they are not using the crabment as they did for so very many years??? I also like the red beans and rice with sausage although they could use a bit more sauce/gravy--whatever--would make that dish even better. Love their green beans and often get a large order for the table. Had the seafood platter last time we went and plan to get the fried shrimp next time. They were on the platter and were the best fried shrimp I have ever had. Just everything is good. Drinks are spectacular! I had a strawberry Margarita and oboy. Beautiful and so large I could not lift the thing. I had to bend over to sip. Took awhile before I could lift the thing. Oh, I got it on the rocks, I do not like any drink frozen. Great place and will be going again soon. Wish they had a nice ribeye. I would order one in a minute if they did because I am sure it would be outstanding.

I routinely take rides on the motorcycle with a theme. This weekends ride was to find an awesome Cajun restaurant in Louisiana. My ride was an awesome success. I arrived in the pouring down rain and I was drenched when I walked in, nor worries I was greeted by amazingly friendly people. There was a 2.5 hour wait, but I lucked out and immediately found a seat at the bar. I had a bowl of gumbo that was awesome. I had a sample plate with fish, oysters, shrimp, and a stuffed shrimp, all were wonderful. I was so full but couldn’t resist the peach cobbler as it was rumored to be amazing, and it was. Everyone was so friendly! The staff was great and so were all the local people who thought I was crazy riding there in the rain and even more so once they understood I had ridden from Little Rock just to eat here. The food is great and all of the people even more so. All was tasty but the gumbo and peach cooler was some of the best I have ever eaten!!! Will bring the family back!

Orlandeaux's had been hyped hard in many reviews, so we decided to try it. The good stuff there, was the wait staff were really pleasant and attentive, but that's where the goodness ended. After all, we were there for the food. These guys are famous for their "stuffed shrimp", so that's what I was there for! I was quickly informed by the waitress that they were "OUT" of their marquis dish .... Huh ?? I then made the mistake of trying the Orlandeaux's chicken fried steak which was delivered as a perfect square (clearly straight from the freezer) that tasted off and had a coating that just kind of fell off when I cut into it. Less than a hour after eating, my stomach went nuts and kept me close to the BR for the rest of the afternoon. When the meal was served, our waitress dropped my cornbread on the floor and never brought a replacement out. And, the final icing on the cake was that, though it was only noon, the bathroom was already nasty. Ugh

Got there about 7PM and had to wait for 30 minutes. Worth the wait! The meal was excellent! Had a drink in the bar while we waited and they were reasonably priced. Service at the bar was a little slow as they were extremely busy. Once we were seated in the restaurant the service was excellent and of course the meal was as well. Wait staff were friendly and attentive. The only small problem we had was finding a place to park as the lot is dark and a little difficult to navigate. Other than that this is restaurant is well worth the short drive to Cross Lake and the wait if they are busy.

First be sure to go to the one on Lakeshore Drive. The location and property on Cross Lake is so pretty. Put your name in at host station, grab a beverage and go out and walk the property, such a pretty setting. Our hour wait on a Friday evening was so worth it. After taking in the property, we sat in the lounge til our table was ready. Folks were so friendly and several locals stopped at our table with recommendations. Bring from Colorado, we tend to eat grilled fish and steamed veggies but when we travel we love trying local cuisine. We both tried different platters but loved everything. The stuffed shrimp was really good but the regular fried shrimp was absolutely delicious to me. I do recommend the rice and gravy over fries, it is their specialty and down right tasty!

The location is beautiful! The service, food, and vibe of the restaurant were amazing. I loved the music. I felt like I was in a southern soul lounge. The swamp water drink was so good!!! I loved the dry ice addition. We ordered fried the gator appetizer, my son got the gumbo, my daughter got the shrimp and grits, and everyone else got fried seafood platters. If this restaurant were local to me, I would go often. Highly recommend.

Two years in a row I've made the 45 minute drive to eat at this restaurant for my Birthday only to be disappointed. The first time was Oct 2021 we arrived at 6.45 to a locked gate and no reason given why they were closed (face book said they were open) the second time was oct 2022 we arrived at 6.45pm and were told they were over booked and not accepting anymore guest for the evening. We tried to make a reservation earlier in the week but we only had 5 people and they don't take reservations unless you have 8 or more. There won't be a third time. Too much trouble just to eat dinner.

A caution: apparently Orlandeaux's moved from the Monkhouse location to Lakeshore Dr. about a year ago. TripAdvisor needs to update their information. Once we figured that out, all was smooth sailing. The new location is fabulous. Huge windows on two sides of the dining room allow wonderful views of Cross Lake. The staff was very attentive and the owner (manager?) greeted us personally when we arrived and asked about our experience when we left. It's rare to find an entire staff that really wants to create a good experience for the customer and yet, the atmosphere is very casual, not stuffy, not high brow. The food was delicious and we had plenty of it. Orlandeaux's--may you have many happy and prosperous years in your new location!

After very long day of driving through Texas, we wanted a good meal from a local restaurant. We drove toward the lake and stumbled upon Orlandreaux’s!!! The parking lot was crowded and there was a wait for a table, but the hostess said we could wait in the bar or even head out on the lake to wait for our table! We did both and ended up sitting at the bar to eat as it was first come, first served! We could tell they had good food as they had a bustling carry out business! The hostess, the bartender, and even the local patrons sitting at the bar with us were so friendly!! The food was fantasti!! My husband always gets hamburgers and said it was the best he’s ever had! I had shrimp fried rice and mustard greens and both were delicious! I would highly recommend this restaurant! We loved everything about it!!
