The entire place needs a deep clean.Bathrooms are outdated, unkept, and the floor is literally coming up in some places.Waited 40 mins for pancakes… and then they brought the wrong kind. Asked for banana … was given pecan & banana.Service however was great, the man at the front mentioned he’s normally a cook, he had great customer service. Also ordered a traditional breakfast, grits were congealed and a single black hair was found at the bottom of the scrambled eggs. Please see attached photo. Food was not poor quality, simply wish we would have gotten what we asked for, not found a hair, and gotten the basic order quicker than 40 mins.
Parking: Hoooooorrrriiiibbbllle parking situation
I enjoyed breakfast on a home porch patio! Food quality was perfect. My new orleans donut beignet were so tasty. My husband had the small portion pancakes. We will return again for sure.
The staff is friendly! This hidden gem is a must for when I’m in Shreveport! Everything I’ve tried has been amazing! The outside seating is sooo cute!
Kid-friendliness: Nice picnic tables in the back and some yard for the children to roam for a friend group event.
Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp for the entrance
Definitely a hole in the wall but worth a trip. Best food I’ve had and will definitely be back. I had the Wednesday lunch special Hamburger Steak, scalloped potatoes and green beans and it was delicious!!
The food was pretty good. We had the shrimp and grits and the Mac n cheese with shrimp. Small restaurant but has an outdoor patio area, which looked nice. It was pretty cold outside the day we went, so we ate inside. The front door was a foot from where we sat, and the door did not close properly and had a big gap, which made it pretty cold where we sat. The ceiling fans were caked with dirt and dust, which was right over where people sit to eat. I believe when u sit down to eat, u should have real flatware. Overall, just a few tweaks to fix. I would definitely come back again.
Went to Marilynn’s Place around 11ish for lunch, but was informed that their lunch wouldn’t be ready til noon. Thankfully, the owner told us about their other restaurant, Ralph’s and told us to head on over and grab lunch at a discount on him.Ralph’s is freaking amazing and I’m ashamed that I didn’t realize it existed til now. Solid service, clean restaurant and delicious food. Definitely going to go back.TL;DR; Ralph’s is pretty darn good and you should check it out! We got the gumbo, muffuletta and beignets. All of it was well prepared and delicious.
Went for brunch around noon on a Saturday. Surprisingly quiet but appreciated. The coffee is self-serve which is nice since you don't have to hunt down a server when you're empty. The coffee is from Rhino Coffee and their sandwiches, including the hot chicken sandwich, use bread from Lowder Baking (which was delicious), so they really support other local businesses. The hot chicken wasn't fried which was nice and it was really tasty. I don't know how I'll go there again and not get the french toast - highly recommended. The grits were good but nothing to write home about. Lots of things I want to try. We will be back.
First time to this restaurant. Arrived with a friend on a Thursday at 8:15 for breakfast. We were only customers at that hour. Two more twosomes showed up before we finished and left. Other reviews give you a good idea of parking, interior, and service levels. My experience was not so positive on many levels and my opinions were similar to my friend’s.First, the meals and beverage service were all on disposable dishes, and plastic flatware in a self service bin. Flatware was in a wrapped kit. Coffee was good but again was a self service setup with no real creamers, just packaged sweetness and whitener. I suspect this was all a result of minimal staffing and cost cutting. There are plenty of other options for breakfast in town that provide a much better experience like real china, metal flatware, coffee table service, and other less minimal service levels. Especially at prices comparable or more expensive to most other local options. It was a 7-11 vibe with somewhat better food offerings but much higher prices. So, we hoped the food was worth this “minimalistic” experience. For us, no. We both ordered pancakes and a meat side. The portions were very large. I ordered a short stack (2 pancakes) and sausage patties. Even if they had been good, I wold not have been able to finish them. The sausage was only available as patties and were just like any frozen sausage patty you ever had. The standard pancakes I had (there were several options like banana, chocolate chip, wheat, ext,) were a bit dry and pretty tasteless. Not even a hint of malt, vanilla, or sweetness. As you might expect from the service level described above, butter and syrup came in small disposable plastic covered cups. The syrup was warm but very thin and without much flavor. Short stack with two sausage patties and coffee was $12.75 plus tip. After a lot of positive reviews and expectations from my experiences at the Highland restaurant, this was not what we expected and cannot recommended a return. Maybe the other menu items are so much better it’s worth the cheap vibe. I’ve stood in line for great bbq served with white bread on a paper plate and was happy to do it. Not here.
Parking: Lots of parking, especially considering there were no customers.
Omg. The food was absolutely amazing!!! Not to mention the service was great also. Nice little family owned spot.
Food was good and came out quickly! The waitress in the front was very friendly and helpful. There aren't many parking spots, but i will definitely come again to try the rest of the menu?

Another one of those places that you question when you drive up and are sure glad you did. We ordered the overstuffed beignets and sweet beignets. The beignets were nice and fluffy and when they say "overstuffed" that is exactly what they are. After only eating one I was full and they were very delicious. The Rhino coffee they service was hot and strong. A must place to stop if you like to go to small out of the way places like we do.
Super cute little diner! The woman running the cash register was the absolute sweetest! So nice. The food was super good! Grits were amazing. Beignets were the best we’ve ever had. Highly recommend!
We have been here twice now and it is soooo good! Today I had the crawfish Benedict. The crawfish was fried and the breading was delicious. They are very small, one person working the front and I think one in the back. The only thing to be aware of is that they sometimes run out of something, but with so many delicious items on the menu it is no problem!
Ralph's Place was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious, the staff was super friendly and helpful, and it wasn't crowded at all. Based on our experience, it should have been packed! Hole in the wall gem that we will definitely return to if we're in the area again.
Pulled up looked closed/ almost abandoned from the front. Almost left but glad I didn’t! Hidden gem also has a peaceful eating areas out back. Get cajun cream and salsa for breakfast burrito, both delicious!
