Always look forward to Mardi Gras time because that means King Cakes are out. For years I have always told anyone that would listen about Navarre's King Cakes being the best I have ever had..
Except this year something happen. The first one was over the top as usual but the one we bought yesterday was a big disappointment. Something has changed! The icing was different like a cheaper product used or something. Just was not a great product as before. I never had a problem with the price because it was such a "WOW" product to our taste buds but not anymore. If you change the recipe to save a buck, please change it back to that winning product.

ABSOLUTELY worth getting there when the door opens to get 2 King Cakes. 1 Bavarian Cream and 1 Strawberry Cream Cheese. Simply amazing, simply THE BEST.

My review is based on the Strawberry Cream Cheese King Cake.
Although I’m typically a plain king cake type of gal, I keep coming back to this one. What I love about it is that it’s not overly sweet, and the cream cheese filling isn’t like icing; instead, it has a subtle yet pleasant saltiness that perfectly complements the sweetness of the strawberry filling and icing.
If you don’t live nearby, I’d recommend calling ahead to reserve one, as there may not be many varieties available to choose from if you just walk in.
Got to experience a Strawberry Cream Cheese King Cake for the first time. Came for a Lemon King Cake but they were already sold out. I have only had a Rouses Market King Cake before so from that to this one was no comparison in how fresh it was. 10/10 and got even better after day two as we stuck it in the fridge to stiffing up the strawberries/cream cheese filling and I would say that’s the trick!
