They do not accept cards, only cash or check. Very small portion they give you for the money you pay. The (hummingbird) waitress side-swipes people to get to dishes or fill glasses while people are trying to eat. The place needs brightening up, a lighter paint and light to see what you are eating! It's like eating in a dungeon. Then, we waited several mins for the owner to take our money, 3 of us in line...

My sister and I happen to be in Vivian on a Monday at about 1:15pm and came up on Rascals Restaurant. Website showed that it closed at 2:00pm so we headed in hoping to get some lunch. We felt very lucky when we saw the buffet and saw that there was plenty of food to choose from. We both chose chicken spaghetti and I had green beans and whole kernel corn and my sister had chicken spaghetti with squash and northern beans. Plus we both had the homemade rolls, and for dessert we had bread pudding. It was all great, neither one of us had to pick up the salt or pepper shaker and re-season anything. You folks in Vivian, Louisiana have a special little gem of a restaurant that you may not even be aware of. Give them a try because I don’t believe you will be disappointed!

The lunch cafeteria style plates are just $13 including a drink and dessert. I am handicapped a d they wait on me like I was at home. Their food selection is very good for the lunch plates. Four kinds of meats including fried chicken, six vegetables, 5 desserts and tea and fountain drinks. Everything is cooked southern style, tender yet not mushy. Seasonings was just right and if you wanted to add more they had a good selection at your table.

Vegetarian options: They have a large selection of vegetables including 2 starches and mac & cheese.

Parking: There is 2 handicap spaces in front of door but no ramp.

Wheelchair accessibility: All on one floor with no obstructions. Plenty of room between tables.

We were excited to check this place out. We were there at 12:30 PM on Friday, and they were closed. They looked to be in operation but closed at lunch time. Strange, no sign saying when they would reopen. I suggest you call ahead.

Rascal's is opened for lunch Sunday thru Thusday from 11 to 2. It is not far from the Railroad museum. No menus. Choice of buffett or burgers and fries. We were told it takes 20 minutes for burgers because the meat isn't frozen. We were in a hurry so hubby picked the buffet. Choice of meat, bread, and vegetables. Enough food for two people! Chicken fried steak was excellent. Wait staff was very friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely eat here again.
