This place is only getting one star just because of the one lady working the register she was nice and polite if it wasn't for her then I would want to be giving them negative stars for reasons 1. My buddy found a hair in his Mac and cheese 2. The food was not great the Mac and cheese was mushy dry and flavorless, the potato salad had a taste that just didn't taste like it was supposed to be in the potato salad. I had some ribs that I will admit the flavoring was good I'll give them that BUT they were super dry and hard. My husband had their beef sandwich with the same sides as me but he also said that the sandwich was dry even after adding BBQ sauce. And with every one in our group who went with us also agreed the meat was well flavored but super dry and sides flavorless 3. The restaurant is definitely in need of a remodel I get that they wanna have that backyard family BBQ feel but the inside just made me feel like I was in a low end cafeteria. Now number 4. Is why I will never return to this restaurant one of my buddies who me and my husband see like family went to simply ask politely if there ribs were beef or pork for the only reason that he cannot eat pork he's tried before and gotten extremely sick to the point he has never eaten pork again so when he asked the man serving the food (behind what looks like a cafeteria line). He told him that they only had pork so my buddy just said ok and chose not to get anything (and I understand why not just order something that was beef or chicken well there was nothing else that seemed appetizing to him so he chose to just hang out with us) But as he walked away from the ordering counter the man serving food started talking sh*t about him with the people next in line they were laughing making fun of him for not wanting pork and when they seen him jus sit down with the rest of us they were just staring at him like if he had to leave (I'm just glad he chose to ignore them because god know it was getting hard for me to I can't stand rude people mean for no reason) But when I seen that for me I see that as bad business and bad service. Now I get people are entitled to their own opinions and thoughts but some things shouldn't be said when it was a simple question and especially when you don't know the reason for someone not eating a certain food and don't bring random people in smack talking it's a bad look for business. I for one would never recommend this restaurant and have no plans to return.

BBQ West used to be the best. But now it's just not the same. Food is really hit or miss and the brisket is a little on the tough side. Beans, when they're right, are as good as ever. But there is no guarantee that they will be.

I used to love eating here! But ever since the new owners they have extremely slow service because they are short staffed and never have enough food because the new owners only let them cook a certain amount. Very disappointed.

Great food at great prices served up by great people. You’d be hard pressed to find a better, tastier deal here in NELA. There’s plenty to choose from, including tons meats, sides, and desserts - it’s hard to pick what to try each time (so come back often). Their turkey is probably the best smoked turkey I’ve ever had in my life, but it’s alllllll good here. They even have daily specials! Do not sleep on BBQ West - they will pleasantly surprise you! I really appreciate the team who run this place - truly top notch folks with food I love!

I'm in Monroe/ West Monroe for business for the next three weeks and I have decided that for dinner I am going to try a local restaurant. Tonight was BBQ West and I was not disappointed. Even though the brisket was a little dry the flavor was pretty good. The ribs had plenty of meat and plenty of flavor. The mac & cheese was super cheesy and warm and the banana pudding was excellent. I was greeted when I walked in and everyone was very nice. This Texan was pleased with the BBQ at BBQ West!

Parking: If the parking lot of the plaza is difficult to get into, because of traffic, etc…(or if you drive a vehicle without much ground clearance, because the parking lot entrances are all very bumpy and will practically tear up a small vehicle trying to pull in or out at just about any speed.)You can park beg the building, on Barr lane, and walk in the back entrance, or walk around to the front. There’s almost always parking in back, and there is no big bump going in or out of the rear lot.
Staff was very friendly. Good variety of sides although not seasoned particularly well. Only drawback was no unsweetened tea & I prefer sit down service/ menu ordering service rather than placing order at counter. However that is pretty typical in this area.
