I've been here several times over the last 4 years. I've never had a bad experience. Great food and service. I've sampled quite a bit from the menu - including desserts. El Sombrero is my favorite stop in Monroe. Added bonus: if you sit near the kitchen you can hear the staff singing and having fun.

don't question it. everything is perfect the daiquiri are fabulous. taste like strawberry short cake smooth romantic atmosphere amazing waiters. a robot kitty cat to deliver the chips and Salsa. everything was outstanding the steak was better then freaken longhorn steak chicken was tender an everything I mean everything was just perfect all the food is perfect I'm from baton rouge north louisiana sucks at making sweet tea. if you a southern. this is the place for you. there tea is also perfect an sweet they know what they doing here I will be returning. this is a very good place to eat even the booth was comfortableKid-friendliness: everything is perfect don't skip a chance to eat here
Large servings, fast service, great ambiance. Long tables for a party. No drink specials but the drinks were well made. The street tacos(chicken) were well seasoned and flavorful. I would pass on the beef ones.

I only ordered a drink which was a two for 1 margarita the server didn't ask what size or flavor I wanted. He just brought back this huge glass of regular margarita like he was in rush. This took forever to receive he dropped it and was gone. I informed another waiter that I didn't ask for this big glass which my server was no where to be found. My server came back and swapped my drink size and never came bk to check. I had to flag my server down for 2nd glass that I never received. I just asked for check. I will not be returning to this establishment. You have to slow yourself and listen to your customers. I worked restaurant for almost 10 years I'm not one to just complain but come on. I may have been the easiest customer in the restaurant.

Was greeted with all the staff being friendly and saying hello. Ordered the Ranchero Desoto (shrimp, bacon, chicken, beef with onions, bell pepper, and cheese, over mexican rice), side of guacamole, a flight sampler of margaritas, and asked for the special hot salsa they only bring out on request. All the food was of the highest and freshest quality. Highly recommended.

The Mexican restaurants around NELA are a dime a dozen, and mostly interchangable when it comes to food options, so it's hard to distinguish yourself from other places. That said, El Sombrero is, in my opinion, one of the best. Their service is always top notch. Everyone is always friendly, accommodating, and professional. Their food is great. Their restaurant is immaculate and their bar is a fun place to hang out pre dinner when your friends make you wait on them!
