The Federal is a long standing establishment in Agawam, and is a lovely building and place to dine and have special occasions. However, my recent visit was a disappointment. The price for our meals were $49.99 each; the food was creatively prepared and presented, but my lobster dish was undercooked. The lobster tails, (3 1/2 tails) were the size of large shrimp and the meat was stuck to the shell and difficult to remove. It came with two pot stickers in a bisque “sauce”. My husband chose the short ribs with mashed potato and asparagus, and said it was good but the portion was not substantial… I hosted a bridal shower at The Federal 5 years ago and it was outstanding. My recent experience was truly a disappointment ☹️

Exceptional service ? from Chloé she made my birthday dinner such an awesome first experience dining here, ambiance is amazing along with the Passion fruit martini, truffle mac n cheese with tail, the steak was a true hit! I highly recommend will definitely be back ? definitely worth the 40 min drive from CT (bonus perk: complimentary valet parking) ? this place definitely gives chic elegant upscale vibes ? x ❤

My wife and i started off with a nice bottle of of Caymus Cabernet Savignon. My wife had the stuffed fig appetizer and had the baked salmon for dinner. I had the pan roasted filet mignon with lobster tail. My wife had the German chocolate cake for dessert. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were there immediately if we needed anything.

From the impeccable service to the outstanding food, our experience was flawless. Not a single complaint from any of us. They executed everything seamlessly, which is rare these days. Wonderful wait staff, service and atmosphere however the $53.90 strip steak as ordered medium pink throughout and was well done and tough.The $43.95 three half lobster tails were over cooked as well and were dry and tough textured.Spiced bread pudding and espressos were excellent, thus the 1 star food rating.
