30 dollars for "large" mala. Scam. Its padded with lotus root, lettuce and very noticeable poor quality beef (tough with inedible tendons). All other Mala places at minnium give double if not triple the amount with better quality ingredients at this price. What the hell is this thing for 30 dollars? When delivery guy gave this i thought it was the wrong order or half of it. Please check the pic attached. Seriously i would rather donate 30 to them as a COVID 19 support. Dont gimme this half a meal and claim this is a transaction.

Standalone, no-fuss Sichuan Mala dishes, especially Mala Xiangguo are hard to find in Boston (or you gotta go to full-service restaurants for it, which cost muuuuch more and quality / quantity is not guaranteed). It says it is a restaurant, but it really is a hawker stall in a food court, and it is pretty much self-service. You order at the counter, they cook it up, and you go take it from there, find a seat, eat, and deal with the tissues / disposable utensils by yourself, and you have to return their big wooden bowl back to them. Well, they used to be really good -- before the move, I have been really satisfied with both quality and quantity. Yet its quality and quantity have been steadily going down since they moved from one end of the food court to another end. Now, there are less transparency with what you get, and the last time I went, the quantity was shockingly, drastically reduced -- only a very small serving in that giant wood bowl. They charged $3.50 for a portion of meat, which according to them is weighted; and $6 for a small basket of vege, which they used to fill to the brim. You will feel they are not cheating you. But this is not the case the last time I went. The finished product is so incredibly tiny that the giant bowl looks totally ridiculous, and it feels like they are trying to make it very spicy so you will be too overwhelmed with the spiciness to complain about the portion. To top it off, they give me a pint of lukewarm white rice (rice is not free, you have to pay for it), barely any moisture and warmth with the rice, as if it has been sitting on the counter for hours -- and the rice is in a Styrofoam container. I don't know if this is because I did not give them a tip and they are being passive-aggressive with it -- but this is a self-serving food stall in a food court. Think it is greedy and inappropriate to ask for tips in this situation. You don't see people being passive-aggressive over tips in places like Qdoba, Chipotle, McD and some Thai self-service restaurants. (I do tip in full-service restaurants.) And they are not always courteous. Won't be going back.

Food is fresh. Price is reasonable. I should have given it 5 stars for the good value. That's the good part. But, the service is BAD. The cashier/counter staff is RUDE. Maybe they expect every Asian-looking customers to speak Mandarin, maybe their English is just poor. Either way, the two women servicing the counter really did a very poor job at it. That's why I never leave tip, they don't deserve it. So, I average this out to a 4-star. I'll visit again, for the food. But, no tip...unless they improve their freaking attitude.
