This place is an absolute BANGER. You know a Chinese place is legit if its no frills; the waitresses are curt, theres only 6ish tables, and you go get your own water/utensils.The cumin lamb biang biang noodle is the perfect bowl for a winter day - spicy, savory, with a good meat to noodle ratio. The noodles had a perfect texture, bouncy and just the right amount of chew. The lamb was also tender! PS. get the lamb skewers too, cuz its even more juicy.Lanzhou fresh noodles is def comparable, if not better than NYCs xian famous foods. However, the waitresses aren't very good at understanding english, so if you have allergies, there will be a hard time for accommodations. DONT BE RACIST.

So sad it's closed. Was my favorite noodle spot in Allston! Hopefully they'll be back. I'll be one of the first ones back if/when they reopen.

Went here for dinner with a couple friends. I had the Lanzhou Beef Noodle Soup and shared a Steamed Chicken with Chili Sauce which I thought were really good for the price. The food here was authentic, and extremely affordable. Good definitely go again!

A small hole in the wall place, cash only.Food I've tried:- SPICY LAMB HAND PULLED NOODLE ($12): the portion is smaller, however I think for the price it is fair. The noodles itself were chewy, and I definitely felt the hand pulled quality to them. I personally would have preferred slightly thinner noodles, as the glutinous mouthful distracted from the flavors of the meat at times. The lamb was very well prepared, not gamey at all and very tender. It was very well flavored, with the right amount of cumin and a slight spicy kick. Atmosphere:- Very small store, limited seating. Classic hole in the wall feel.- Water is self serve at the front. Service:- Unclear whether you are supposed to order at the counter or if someone comes to you. I just ended up ordering at the counter. Remember it is cash only, but the prices are reasonable. Overall:- Good for a quick bite of authentic tasting hand pulled noodles.

The noodles are good! The scallion pancake is probably the best we had. I guess I’m just picky about 热干面… since that’s literally the only dish I can judge with that one coming from my home town. It was tasty but just not the taste I was looking for. I think I needs more sesame paste to it.

This place has very flavor packed punch with its noodles. The cumin lamb biang biang noodles are awesome. All of their noodle dishes pretty good. But don’t forget the chongqing chicken with chili peppers a great item. If I had any complaints for 18$ seems a little small in portion size and there are bones to pick out but still delicious.

Ordered serval noodles and Sichuan fish fillet with preserved vegetable. Lanzhou beef noodle is good, others are okay but not good.

Love the hand pulled noodles here. The lamb cumin biang biang ones are so good, they're my favorite. The sauce is a bit light at times, could use a little bit more flavoring, but it's just the right amount of spice. If you don't like spicy foods you're probably not going to enjoy it as much here, or try to order a dish that comes as non spicy instead of trying to adjust the spiciness levels of spicy fishes. The only downside is that it's cash only, so definitely plan accordingly. They're pretty strict about this. It's also a tiny tiny place so don't expect to have seating readily available if you come as a large group.

Ordered the cumin lamb biang biang noodles. Very tasty! Well-seasoned. ~$12 for a reasonably sized portion. Would return and recommend!

This place is always mobbed but the food speaks for itself. The service is okay but I come for the food. I wish they had better seating for folks that are just a party of one. Also this is a cash only establishment.

After going to Xian famous foods in NYC, we wanted to find a similar place in Boston. This place hits the spot! The spicy chicken dry noodle was so chewy and flavorful. They fish and picked veg was melt in your mouth good. The chili oil must have crack because I’m addicted.

There is no garage parking, you need to be creative to find a spot. There is no restroom inside, you need to walk to burger king to use theirs. But in terms of food, it's not bad. Definitely worth trying. 拉面's taste is close to its origin, but 面条并不是手拉的. Hot boiling fish is not very good, very little fish and not fresh fish.

Been here twice, first time was excellent, very chewy nice texture noodles with unique flavors. Second time noodle was sad and soggy. The cold noodle has thick sesame oil (some people really like it, but I prefer peanut sauce style). The cold chili chicken was really good both time we visited. I recommend beef soup noodle without chili oil for nice, cleansing soup. I also recommend bring your own drinks here (onezo or tiger sugar). This place is cash only.
