“Two months ago, we hosted a wedding banquet at Mulan Restaurant, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The team prepared a beautifully decorated and festive private dining room, and the food was absolutely delicious. Everyone—guests and hosts alike—had a fantastic time. We are deeply grateful to the owner and staff for making the celebration warm, joyful, and truly memorable.“

“Grandma’s Kitchen in Newton is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed with warmth and that cozy, comforting atmosphere that truly lives up to the name. The staff are friendly and genuinely care about your experience, and the food? Pure comfort on a plate.
I had the chicken and dumplings and my partner tried the meatloaf—both were incredible! Everything tasted homemade, seasoned perfectly, and served in generous portions. The biscuits were buttery and fluffy, and the pie (don’t skip dessert!) was just like something Grandma would bake—maybe better, but don’t tell her I said that.
Whether you're local or just passing through, this is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re sitting at your grandma’s table. Can’t wait to come back!“

“Wide variety of very good food BUT, unless you speak Chinese, ordering by phone or even online is AGONY. They should hire a fluent high school kid.“

“When you walk into Mu Lan it is like you are transported to Taiwan. They have some "Americanized" dishes, however they are known for their authentic dishes. My Chinese friends that also own restaurants told me that Mu Lan is the real deal. I went at lunchtime. Most tables were occupied. I was one of the only non-Asian customers. To me, that's a sign of a great restaurant. As soon as I sat, they brought me over tea, water with lemon, a ramikin of peanuts and a ramikin of pickled cabbage and carrots. A very pleasant start to the meal. My waiter, an older gentleman with glasses was very friendly and was one of the English speaking employees. Part of their menu is written in Taiwanese. Those items had pictures. You can also easily use your cell and Google translate. I should note the restaurant was extremely clean and had nice Asian decor. They give you chopsticks. There is forks/spoons available if needed. I use chopsticks at home so this wasn't an issue. I started with a cup of Hot and Sour Soup. It's a favorite dish of mine and I was curious to see how they did it. Great flavors with the normal fillers like tofu, golden needle, black fungus, egg etc. Had a good amount of heat to clear your nose. My next course was half of the House Duck. Also delicious! Although reading the reviews it sounds like people lean towards the Smoked Duck. I finished with some Cuttlefish Dumplings! These were amazing! I believe the wrapper was black from squid ink. Overall, very happy with the food and the little extras they give you.
When they bring out the bill, they also bring Orange slices!!! Kind of like the pineapple back in the day! They have a large menu with a lot of interesting choices. From a cultural perspective it was really fascinating to watch some of the families eat. Each person would get a bowl of rice. Then the table would get two giant bowls
One looked like a soup. The family members would pick at the big bowls and place items on their rice. After a few bites they would repeat the process.
Definitely worth checking out for great fresh, authentic Taiwanese/Chinese food. Prices were very reasonable! Excited to go back and try something new!
Parking: I didn't have trouble finding street parking!
Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly if your kid has an adventurous palette.“

“We stopped by for dinner on Sunday. It was busy. Make reservations in advance.
We got the cucumber in chili sauce. It was a good hit of sour and spicy.
The cabbage dumplings were flavorful and juicy. The scallion pancakes were crispy and not oily. We got the Dang dan noodles with peanut sauce. I'm a bit disappointed. Lack with flavor. We got the grilled fish with tomato sauce. The fish cooked perfectly. The tomato sauce compliments the fried fish. I would definitely order the grilled fish with tomato sauce again.“

“This is our favorite Chinese food take out restaurant in Lexington. The food is very fresh and very reasonably priced. The owner is incredibly friendly and I have talked with him many times about real estate when I go in there to order our take out dinner. Since this restaurant is located in a very small commercial strip in our neighborhood, I have many times just walked up there to get our dinner (it’s actually quicker than waiting for the delivery driver).“

“Adorable little café with indoor and outdoor seating behind the café. There is a limited amount of parking out front and they close around 6:30 so the parking ends around the time that they close. The store is fully accessible, they have a wide variety of looseleaf tea as well as Stash bagged tea. I got the Genmai cha.
I did one of the Bento boxes with pulled pork, tea eggs, edamame, rice, and veggies. It is absolutely delicious but definitely a little pricey. It was $19 for my tea and my food. But I do love the cafe and the people are super kind.
There is also a lot of knitting work that is for sale. Somebody there makes scarves and hats and such.
I really appreciate that they have notes all over the store and on the front door and on there to go bags reminding customers that they are going to be closed from August 26 until September 9. I really appreciate it when a business does right by their customers and make sure that they know That the place is open or closed. Thank you!
Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs“

“The Chinese and Taiwanese restaurants in Newton mostly serve snacks or side dishes, which can be paired with some fried noodles or scallion pancakes, and the overall portions are small. This time I ordered beef burrito, Taiwanese fried noodles, carrot cake, steamed pork ribs, large intestine noodles, fried dough sticks, and sweet soy milk. Beef burrito, crispy crust and beef slices, salty and delicious. The Taiwanese fried noodles are just right in saltiness and taste good. The fried radish cake has a crispy texture, but the body of the radish cake is hard (not the same as what you get in Taiwan). The steamed pork ribs are soft and tender, and paired with the sweet potatoes spread underneath, it is delicious. The large intestine noodles have a smooth texture, and the large intestine is delicious, with a nostalgic taste. Crispy fried dough sticks paired with slightly sweet soy milk, a classic Taiwanese delicacy.

“The soup dumplings, that is, the mini juicy buns with pork, are a religious experience. These are the standard by which I measure all other soup dumplings and all have fallen short. When I eat these things I see the face of god. They would be part of my death row meal. The sauce they’re served with, though tasty, is utterly superfluous. The divine flavor of the soup and pork filling of the dumplings is so good I don’t even touch the sauce.
The restaurant itself is unassuming and it’s usually honestly rather chilly in there, but I don’t even care because those mini juicy buns have me in a stranglehold and they deserve to be eaten at their peak freshness, in the restaurant, rather than jostled around and cooled down by delivery.
It’s worth noting that their other food is also great, particularly the other dumplings and the fried rice, which is that lighter kind of fried rice whose superior flavor is almost sorcery in my book. But seriously. The mini juicy buns with pork.“
