Thanks to other TripAdvisor members, the overall rating on The Hollow Café guided me on exactly where to go for a café breakfast in Amesbury. On arrival, I found The Hollow Café in a strip mall beside Family Dollar. It was in the back. Inside, I had to wait to be seated. The gal at the front had about 4 jobs – hostess, waitress, cashier, table-clearer/ sanitizer. Through it all, she seemed to remain cool, calm, and collected despite the multiple demands of her job. I finally got seated after 10 minutes. When seated, I wasn’t given a menu. I had to get up to get one. I was later informed that it was not the full menu. She brought the full menu. Then, there was another wait. I ordered Two Eggs & Toast at $4.50 and Decaf Coffee at $2.50. I took the eggs poached well done. I took the multigrain bread for toast. It was about a 20-minute wait for my meal. Meanwhile, I enjoyed the coffee and the homey café atmosphere. When the meal came, I found that things were arranged neatly on the plate. The eggs were done just as ordered. The yolk on each egg was fully congealed - just the way I cook poached eggs at home. The slices of bread for the toast were quite large – almost like Canadian bread. The toast was also done to my liking. I hate burnt toast. The meal was very good. I got a second cup of coffee. Although far from fast, service was as good as could be expected with just one person doing everything out front. Before leaving, I used the restroom. It was clean. I rate the Hollow Café at 4.25 and can recommend a visit. I would definitely eat there again. Worst food place in amesbury. If you want good breakfast go to the morning buzz cleaner restaurant and way better service and food.

my best friend and i randomly found this sweet cafe and my goodness was it wonderful! Excellent service and the staff was very welcoming. The menu was far from dull, exciting choices and the execution was even better.

Amazing food and great service! Challah French toast was fantastic. Green Goddess omelet and Irish eggs Benedict were both delicious. Check hours as the waitress told us they are tweaking their schedule for fall.

My husband and I found this cafe by accident, and we are sure glad we did. The whole place was just adorable, very homey, and grandma's kitchen like. The waitress was wonderful, and paid attention to us, cleanliness, other customers, and did all this in a timely manner. The food was phenomenal and very inexpensive, with large portion sizes.

Just ok. Take out orderGot the hash pannwich. Soggy, bagel wasn't toasted or made into a pannini like the menu made it seem.Received the wrong Benedict. Ordered the Irish and got the regular with ham.Was told over the phone that they could do hard boiled eggs without a problem for my son. We get there and they could not do hard boiled eggs.We were told 20 minutes, and it took them over 30 minutes.The staff were very nice and apologized, but still disappointing.Could just be a fluke, but most likely won't be going back.

Beautiful little spot tucked away in Amesbury with a beautiful inside aethetic. This was my first visit but ill definitely be back soon! Great service and super friendly staff plus amazing tasting food at good prices.
Came here during our usual search for breakfast with my son on weekends and Christmas break, now it was the day after Christmas so I gave them a star for being open. Looked busy, google reviews didn't look bad, but lets just say we ended up leaving before anyone even said hello (and that took forever). Walked in to a small dining room, maybe 8 tables total as the extended dining room doors were all closed and only the small inner dining area was open and available (I have been a waitress and could have handled the dining room on my own easily), the tables were full and the only had one waitress but still... she could have acknowledged us or something.. anything.... so we stood there waiting to be seated, never got seated by the waitress or anyone who worked there (someone who said she was a "regular", which was surprising to me they have regulars after we left, actually got up from her table, gave it to us and said she was going to sit at the bar), the waitress never came over to us, or even looked at as when we walked in, but she had time enough to ask the "regular" if she was going to sit at the bar. We sat at the table with the menus the "regular" had given us for at least 30 min. OMG- the MENUS!! BOTH myself and my son left there with headaches from attempting to read the menu. To the owner of this cafe- sorry but bad choice- the DiFFerEnT SizEs, cAPitAL lEttErS, CoLoRs, anD StYleS of FonT yOU ArE uSiNG (yes this is how the entire menu looks but worse because its also multicolor) makes your menus extremely difficult to read and gave us a headache from just trying. We got up. We left. In the maybe hour total we were there, the waitress barely got the drink order for the table next to us, right when we walked in we saw a child get up from his table and physically go ask the waitress for a box because they didn't want to wait anymore, and additional customers came in and left also not being served, not as patient as my son and I were.

The food was good in theory, but poorly executed and over priced. Staff were nice, friendly, but this isn't a restaurant to write home about. I've heard the salads are good so I'll give them another shot.

Best breakfast feast in Amesbury. Be sure to be quite hungry before committing to a dish, the food is delicious and servings are massive!

We were a party of five. Waitress took care of two parties seated after us. Paid no attention to the fact that I told her we were in a rush... Gave her a great tip because the food was very good... I just wish our waitress was more attentive to our needs instead of telling the other customers the route she had to take to get to work. She was friendly but, her service was poor.
