Went in after a bike ride to get a sub.
One man being served. Two other workers standing there. Nobody else in the store. I smiled and waited for someone to say something. Nothing. They looked at me. I smiled said “hi”
Crickets they stared at me. It was extremely uncomfortable for me to be stared at but not acknowledged that I was there. I don’t need that.
So I left. If you can’t acknowledge that a customer walked in, you’re not even busy, two of you are just standing there, then no sorry don’t get my business.

The rating I gave was purely based on service. The service at this Subway in Ayer, MA is horrible and the reason for the 1 star. The people who work there try, but do not understand or speak English. At first when they began I felt bad for them and sought to be very patient and encouraging believing the difficulties would be short term as they would learn to speak and understand English better. After over a year, it is still very difficult to get a turkey and provolone wrap that is toasted. Every time I come to this location I have problems and the other people who are there at the same time do as well. It is painstaking to place an order.
I enjoy Subway and eat at it frequently in various areas of Massachusetts. This Subway is the only one that I have such difficulties at. I try to avoid it now due to the continued problems. I do feel they try when I am there but they need to understand you have to understand customers well to truly give good customer service. If they can't understand them yet, after being there over a year, they need to work on their English when they are not at work. I am not sure if they own it (the lady is there all the time working) or if they just work at it. If they don't own it, the owner needs to get a translator to work there until they can understand and speak English better.
Due to a broken fridge and time, I decided to go today. There was an elderly couple in line ahead of me. They ordered meatball subs. They were not warmed up. The elderly lady tried to tell the two behind the counter the problem. Her expectations were appropriate and she tried to be very patient to help them understand.
The lady behind the counter sounded like she was complaining to her coworker about the elderly woman. I wanted to say something but bit my tongue. Then it was my turn to order and try to help them understand what I wanted for my order. It is just difficult. No thank you! I regretted going.
I bit my tongue while I was there. I will vent here.

Not sure how this subway is still in business. Situated at the worst intersection and there’s only three parking spots. Lived in town for 3 years and for the first time decided to grab a sub here, had a hard time parking because some inconsiderate a hole decided to park in the middle of two spots. Had to park across the street. This subway is horrible, avoid.
The girl who works here is honestly not very kind. She's yelled at me and my parents before and just recently me and my fiance were inside eating and another customer came in and didn't understand what she was saying because her accents a little strong and she just stops stares at her, yells at the dude standing next to her in Spanish and he takes over. Very hostile environment. Makes for a very uncomfortable experience. Foods good and every other employee who works there is very kind but this one lady makes none of it worth it in my opinion.

Whatever you do, don't order a tuna sub after 8pm. It'll ruin your night.

The staff was great. They did a great job serving our group of 22 people. The facilities were ROUGH... See the pictures. The toilet seat in the ladies room is hanging on the wall. The bag of soap from the dispenser in the men's room is in the sink. The sink doesn't have a lever to turn on the water. The air freshener has been torn off the wall. The door closure hing sticks in the wall when you open the door. And there's next to no parking...maybe 5 spots and 1 handicap spot.

If you or a family member have an allergy, avoid this place at all costs. Our son has a severe allergy to cucumbers and even after explaining this to the worker 5 different times they couldn’t understand why they would need to change their gloves after making a sandwich right before his with cucumbers on it. Would recommend whoever runs this place takes a focus on training their staff.

whoever put one star is incredible for the atmosphere. I put two stars because of their location and their driveway needs to be paved. Other than that I had ordered a party box up to $160 worth of food. All subs pre-cut were pre-ordered for up to 100 people every single sub was perfect, everyone at the party were able to enjoy the sandwiches and had no complaints so for whoever put one star, you just simply had a bad time or just went at the wrong time if you go frequently and it happens to you often, then understandable for one star, but I had only went there for the first time in the only time for a big order over $160 and every single sandwich that was ordered was perfect so it kinda confuses me to see a review of one star when all of the sandwiches I had ordered were fine. to the owner of the subway at this location take the time to look over the review and try to fix some of the changes or the request from your customers that leave reviews. It’s very important that you make your customers happy and satisfied so this way they come back more and more.

Disappointed! I have always enjoyed going to this Subway location however the past couple times have not been worth it. They do not know how to make melts even though they advertise it. My daughter and my meatball subs were cold when we got home and we live 1 minute away!
