We absolutely love Sunday Brunch at Cafe on the Common. The French Press coffee is always perfect, the deviled eggs with local hot sauce are absolutely crave-able, and the ever changing quiche and savory bread pudding is always a welcome surprise. Thoughtful touches like fresh orange and pomegranate seed garnishes are a total delight. We drive a half hour past many other breakfast spots to enjoy the scratch cooking, cozy dining room, and super warm hospitality of these sweet owners. Well worth the drive from wherever you are. Spend a few tranquil moments strolling on the common, checking out the shops, and sitting on a park bench under a big oak tree after brunch.

Excellent food, friendly waitress and homey atmosphere. Triple header.
My two friends and I stopped in for lunch and we were greeted like family. We chatted on non-stop and were not rushed at all.

First and last experience here. Gives the feeling that they are TRYING to be classy and fancy yet they fall short. VERY limited menu. Portion size for the money is appalling. Seven dollars for a side salad with 2 tomatoes, a few shavings of carrot and about 4 small leaves of lettuce. Ordered a flatbread and it was smaller than a piece of toast. No thanks, would have been better off at Wendy's. More for your money. Should have acknowledged based on the lack of people there.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch here recently. Such nice people, beautiful restaurant, everything is homemade!! I had the Shepherds pie and my mother had the chicken pot pie both were excellent. Mom had cherry pie for dessert and I had a yummy fudge brownie these were also excellent. We are already planning our next visit!!
Jada and Dewey are great hosts. The food was fantastic. Great drinks. Very nice atmosphere and a delicious cherry pie. Thank you for a great dinner. Had a very enjoyable and memorable evening.
Love this little restaurant. We try to make it for every Fine Dinning Friday. We've been 3-4 times now and it hasn't missed yet!

charming friendly smallish place...brunch on a sunday...all pleasant and even had some live jazz playing...drinks different and interesting, same goes for the food, had the breakfast nachos very good and also the french toast( i think it was) but it was thick and almost like a bread pudding, very good also...small place and service was slowish, perhaps the morning crowd was more than they anticipated....but really liked it here, will be back!!!

My boyfriend and I were excited to try Café on the Common, but the experience was frustrating from start to finish.
The restaurant is very small and loud, with music blasting inside. The only seating option was outside unless we wanted to sit at the bar. After about five minutes, our waitress came to take our drink orders. I asked for a coffee with cream and sugar and a juice, and my boyfriend ordered the same. Strangely, after writing everything down, she asked me again what my drink order was. A little odd, but I brushed it off.
About 10 minutes later, our drinks arrived—but my coffee came in a French press with no mug. I couldn’t drink it until 20 minutes later, when the waitress finally noticed and brought the mug over, saying “Oops, I forgot.” I tried to stay patient, assuming she was just busy.
We each ordered our own waffle—mine with whipped cream only, his with berries and whipped cream—and we shared a side of bacon, which only came with two slices. The waffles were clearly frozen and reheated, definitely not fresh or worth what they charge.
When we asked about maple syrup, the waitress said it would be $1 each. That already felt steep for such a small portion, but we agreed. However, when we got the bill, we were charged $1.50 each—without any explanation or warning. We were quoted one price and charged another, which feels dishonest.
After we finished eating, we asked for the bill, and after a long wait, the waitress finally brought it. I handed her my card—and then she took it with her and didn’t come back for quite a while. We were left just sitting there waiting, unable to leave because she still had my card. When she did return, she told us she was sorry again as the machine “busy” and “she forgot,” which only made things worse. There were only two people working—her and one person outside—so everything felt slow, chaotic, and poorly managed.
Between the long waits, forgotten items, misleading pricing, and underwhelming reheated food, this was one of the most disorganized dining experiences I’ve had. We won’t be returning—and I wouldn’t recommend Café on the Common to anyone.

The food here was over the top amazing. Everything we ate was flavoured and cooked to perfection. Tonnes of gluten free options, and super friendly staff. Highly recommend!

We went for the first time recently and were really impressed with the commitment of the owners - Dewey and Jayleigh - to providing a great experience. I had mac and cheese (made with mozzarella cheese) and my husband got the nachos which were both plentiful and topped with homemade salsa and other tasty things. The blondie for dessert was incredible: warm and flavorful. The only reason I didn’t rate the food as 5 stars is that there aren’t really any healthy/lighter options. But everything we tasted was rich and delicious. While the decor is kind of retro and outdated, the ambience is very welcoming, thanks to the owners. We weren’t there on a live music night, but the playlist was fantastic: lots of Dylan and some Beatles and others like Buffalo Springfield. We had great time.

There was a torrential downpour the Saturday I visited, but it seemed like every table was seated. People were cheerful and talking and laughing and enjoying their food. I started with a cocktail that was made with Satan’s Brew (from Deep Roots Distillery), sweet and dry vermouth, homemade cherry simple syrup and garnished with a slice of blood orange and a stemmed cherry. Delectable! I ordered a cup of cream of asparagus soup and it was beautiful too. It was garnished with three asparagus tips that had a little char on them. Just perfect. For my entree I ordered one of several specials: rabbit, wild rice and roasted beets. Amazing. Then I finished with a huge slice of warm homemade cherry pie topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. Everything was just perfect,—including the atmosphere and service. I was delighted to get to meet Jada and Dewy. I only wish I lived closer because I would be there ALL THE TIME! Highly recommend!!!
