For $99, this meal offers excellent value, as the quality of the food is genuinely good. The fish, aged for a few hours, was fairly fresh and tasty. Furthermore, the main chef was highly enthusiastic during the introduction of each course, which was a welcome highlight.

However, the experience as a whole failed to deliver what I would consider a high-quality omakase. The core issue is the scale of the operation: accommodating 10 guests at the counter plus an additional 6 or 7 at surrounding tables, all served the same meal, makes the interaction with the chef minimal.

This approach detracted from two key joys of the omakase format. First, the fish was pre-prepared and cut away from the counter, denying guests the traditional experience of watching the chef prepare the full course in front of them. Second, there were two apprentices beside the chef, who appeared to be learning basic hand-roll techniques and even inventing their own methods right there. As a place striving to establish itself as true omakase, this awkward, visible training significantly affected the overall professional presentation and appearance.

While the food is good and the price is right, the structure and execution prevent this establishment from achieving an authentic or intimate omakase dining experience.

Everything was amazing. I was dining solo and was nervous about getting placed in a corner or being overlooked, but the staff were equally as attentive to me as they were everyone else. The food was SO good!! High quality fish. Super yummy. I ended up ordering a few more. The sweet shrimp was my favorite. Highly recommend! The chefs were very skilled and professional. They explained and presented each dish very well as well.

5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is my second time coming to Akami and it did not disappoint. The first time was during their soft opening— I swore I would come back, and I sure did!
My friends and I RSVPed for a Thursday night for 8:30PM. Finding street parking was easy. We were seated promptly. Nuk our waitress was phenomenal like last time. Jam and the other sushi chef (I wish I got his name), served us with care, expertise, and efficiency. Each course was described in detail as we eagerly devoured it. From the tuna to the uni, everything was fresh and delicious. This time, they adjusted their chawanmushi recipe and wow, hands down the tastiest chawanmushi I’ve ever had. We were full with the pre-fixed course but had to order off the a la carte menu since everything else was so good. Don’t skip out on their wide variety of sake!
Thank you Akami for a yummy and fun dinner service!

Loved Akami!! The fish quality was great and comparable to when I visited Japan this summer. I’m not a big fish person, but nothing was fishy and this was one of the first times I actually enjoyed the whole course. I loved the torched pieces especially. Their service was phenomenal and they went out of their way to make a ube tiramisu for my boyfriend’s birthday. A must visit spot!

My boyfriend and I celebrated his birthday at Akami and had a lovely time. The fish was fresh and each dish was very flavorful. The chefs were very knowledgeable about the ingredients in each dish. This was such a unique experience and I’m so glad we chose to celebrate at Akami.

Guided dining experience. Food is good. There is a little bit too much story telling going on, possibly making things appear to be a little bit more special than they are. But this is likely part of the experience. If you don't mind the price tag, you will have a good dining experience. At the end, they are offering specials at some extra cost. These were not my favorites. Only recommended if you are still hungry or curious. Service was very good and well paced.

We went here for our anniversary dinner and it ended up being one of the most memorable meals we’ve had in Boston. We’ve had omakase in Japan before, and this felt like the real deal. The attention to detail, the balance of flavors, and the seasonal focus all reminded us of that experience in the best way.

Each course was thoughtful and perfectly paced. The fish was pristine and the small creative touches never felt overdone. The chef and staff were warm and attentive, which made the whole night feel like more than just a meal.

The biggest surprise was the value. Compared to other omakase spots in Boston this was much less expensive, but the quality was every bit as high. It feels like a hidden gem and we’d definitely come back for another special occasion.

If you want a true omakase experience without flying to Japan, this is the place.

Incredible Omakase!!!!!
Arguably, one of the best I’ve had anywhere and *definitely*, the best omakase in Boston!

I really enjoyed the variety, the freshness was superb, all the chefs were very knowledgeable and provided curious facts; which both, complemented and expanded on the experience. Given the low price tag that this omakase comes with — the lowest in Boston — this really seems like an impossible experience; and yet it’s here!

I’ve only gone last week but I’m already eager to return.
I wish the business and the whole team lots of prosperity, and all the positive attention they deserve!

✨ A new hidden gem in Boston! ✨
This newly opened omakase sushi spot is a fantastic find – fresh fish, flavorful bites, and surprisingly affordable for the quality. Every piece was well balanced, and the uni was incredibly sweet and creamy.

The overall experience felt high-end yet approachable, which makes it perfect for both sushi lovers and those new to omakase. My only wish is that they would add sashimi options to the menu alongside sushi – that would make it absolutely perfect!

Highly recommend checking it out before it becomes too popular! 🍣
