Expect to wait a VERY long time for your table - even with a reservation. OK. So. Food is great. Service reasonable (once seated). Barcelona in Brookline is a busy and bustling place. BUT - your reservation time is “advisory” at best. Last night ~40 mins late (and we were a simple party of 2). Another group (a 4 person group I think) were approaching the hour mark when we were seated and still waiting! Honestly - that just isn’t acceptable. Not sure what’s broken with their reservation system - but management need to fix it. If you have plans for the rest of the evening - dine elsewhere.

We love Barcelona - it has a wonderfully vegetarian-friendly menu and awesome service. We went for a birthday brunch but hadn’t told the team that was the reason for our meal. Our server noticed that we had toasted the birthday celebrant and they brought over a piece of cake with “happy birthday” written in chocolate!

We went with company colleagues and friends. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with a cozy, rustic vibe. they have great range of foods from small to larger plates. There are few good vegetarian options.
Overall, it was an amazing experience from start to finish, perfect for a date night or small group gathering.
WE WAITED AN HOUR TO SIT. WE HAD A RESERVATION AND STILL WAITED AN HOUR. A GROUP CAME IN AND JUST SAT DOWN AFTER WE HAD BEEN WAITING, AND WHEN WE SAID SOMETHING, THEY LIED AND SAID THAT GROUP HAD BEEN WAITING.

A friend of mine tried to celebrate her birthday at this Barcelona location last weekend. It was a total disaster. At some point, management approached our table informing my friend that her reservation came with a minimum order of $40 per person and that we were collectively not meeting the minimum. She was unaware of it but they insisted that she had signed a contract agreeing to the above. Apparently, it is a new policy. The management then pressured us to purchase bottles of wine to meet the minimum. If this wasn’t bad enough, the management then added four tapas to our bill and packed them for us to go. None of us ordered them. Just before walking out, I told one of the managers that she could expect this review. She responded by asking if there was anything she could do to prevent it. I pointed out that we had tried to reason with them already and that the situation had gone too far.

Barcelona has converged to the mean over the years. The food is your average small plates, and service has deteriorated since after the pandemic. It must be still very popular so no reason to expect improvement. I wouldn't spend my money here.
