Exceptional food and great atmosphere (I’m a sucker for romantic low lights) and very good service. The appetizers we ordered were all delicious, cod pate, meatballs, arancini. The meatballs stood out, so flavorful and delicious. The steak tomato bruschetta appetizer was yummy as well, such good quality. Our entrees were the linguine spicy clam pasta, bolognese ragu and hanger steak. The bolognese had such deep flavor, hanger steak melt in your mouth and linguine was actually spicy. Overall such a delightful experience and the winelist was really good also.

Extremely disappointing experience at La Morra

I’ve dined at La Morra several times before and always enjoyed it, but this visit was honestly terrible. The attitude of the staff and the overall service were shockingly poor. The host completely ignored our table for most of the evening — attending to other guests who arrived after us, taking their orders first, and even serving their food before we were acknowledged. We had to keep trying to get attention just to place our order.

On top of that, the food quality and taste have noticeably declined since my last visit — dishes that used to be flavorful and well-balanced now tasted bland and uninspired.

It’s really disappointing to see such a sharp drop in both service and food quality from what used to be one of my favorite neighborhood spots.

Wonderful food and service. I am still thinking about the Spaghetti Limone two days later; a simple dish with simple ingredients, but cooked to perfection.

Pest infestation caused me to leave before my meal coming out. They are hoarding overfilled trash bins with trash leaking out onto the sidewalk in front of the business. They are contributing to the forever look the other way problem of Brookline, Massachusetts, and how it’s so much compares to its twin Allston. Not even the rodents here are Italian.

Eggplant Parmesan was oily with unpleasant oil (probably not fresh nor hot enough), smoked corn salad was good, chichetti were good, swordfish was tough but had a great presentation and good vegetables, wine was very good.

The food here is so consistently good, as is the service. The atmosphere is relaxed, never stuffy, despite the quality of what is served. My favorite restaurant in the Boston area.

Every item on the 4 course menu I ordered had a hidden cost. No need to do that. When you offer a 4 course menu let the client choose what to eat from the list. I paid extra for a focaccia: bread with a slice of tomato, nothing extraordinary to charge 5 dollars extra for it…

The seating was organized, and the menu offered a reasonable variety of dishes.

A great gem within the neighborhood! We came here for restaurant week after years of wanting to stop by. The staff was friendly. The wine selection was great. Also had a variety of different appetizers and offerings which we hoped for. We did not realize I was a whole upstairs that allowed for additional seating. Our restaurant week meal was filling. Between the tomato salad, polenta and chicken, and donut holes, everything was great! Would definitely come back for some more wine and appetizers.

Stopped in here randomly one day and was pleasantly surprised. Their risotto is phenomenal and great service!

We thought this was a gorgeous restaurant - the light coming through the yellow curtains upstairs reminded us of an Edward Hopper painting!
They were accommodating of us being vegetarian and vegan, doing a special pasta with tomato sauce.
Service was friendly, and we felt the value was fair. Thanks for a nice meal :)

A Dream Dinner at La Morra – A New Favorite in Brookline

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at La Morra, and we can wholeheartedly say it was one of the finest meals we've ever experienced. From the very first bite to the final spoonful of dessert, every course reflected La Morra’s motto: “Simple Ingredients. Time-honored Techniques.” They don’t just claim it—they live it.

We began with a salad of strawberry, hazelnuts and greens that was nothing short of graceful. The balance of flavors was delicate and delightful, with a salad dressing that didn’t overwhelm but gently brought everything together in harmony. Next came a beautifully executed risotto—al dente perfection—paired with fresh pea greens and earthy mushrooms that made each bite a joy.

The main course, Bistecca Alla Griglia, featured a wood-grilled hanger steak that was deeply flavorful and perfectly cooked to medium-rare as requested. But what truly stole our hearts was the porcini polenta—creamy, rich, and utterly “to die for.” The grilled asparagus alongside it was crisp-tender and seasoned just right.

And just when we thought the evening couldn’t get better, dessert arrived: Bomboloni—Italian donut holes—served with a smooth, sweetened mascarpone that we’re still dreaming about.

To accompany the meal, I ordered a Manhattan—and I must say, the bartender prepared the best, most flavorful version of this classic cocktail I've ever had. Perfectly balanced, richly layered, and impeccably crafted, it set the tone for everything that followed.

But as exceptional as the food was, what truly elevated the experience was our server, Mike B. In all our years of dining, we can say without hesitation that Mike is the best server we’ve had. Gracious, friendly, prompt, and deeply professional, Mike brought warmth and attentiveness to every part of the evening. He struck the perfect balance—never overbearing, always thoughtful, and even took time to ask about our visit to Boston. His knowledge of the menu and genuine enthusiasm added so much to the atmosphere. Thanks to Mike, we didn’t just have dinner—we had a memorable evening.

As Mike mentioned, some menu items and preparations rotate with the seasons, and that alone is reason enough for us to return—again and again. Honestly, we could eat at La Morra every evening. If you're anywhere near Brookline, do yourself a favor and make a reservation.

La Morra is a gem. Bravo to the kitchen, the staff, and especially to Mike B. for an unforgettable night.
