So glad there’s an Indian grocery store within walkable distance in Brookline! They’re surprisingly well stocked for the size of the store and have tons of south indian options which are sometimes lacking in other Indian stores. The owners are very friendly. People afflicted with serious car-brain will compare a local mom and pop store in an expensive location with a chain in the suburbs - not all of us want to or can drive to a Patel Brothers in Waltham for a quick grocery trip. Glad we have this option in the neighborhood!

I know this place since 1995 , when I was landed in Boston, my friend introduce this place. Very nice experience and iconic those days when Indian grocery was hard to find around Boston area. I remember the owner Mangala and her husband, very nice people and call you in case any missing items coming from vendor. It is become weekend ritual to visit Madras masala those days in heart of the city. We moved out to suburb and to out of Massachusetts but still visit when we get in Boston the owners remember me. No internet those days this is the place to get information about indian activities and cultural program informations etc. memorable place for us.

The lady owner is extremely rude and may I say, racist and prejudice towards non-Americans. We were there with a local customer and she treated them wayyy better than us. Everything is horribly overpriced. Will not come again. Word of advice: stay away. The international aisle at Star Market down the road now looks like a way better option that this store.

My husband is from Coimbatore and we find all the brands he's used to, along with specialty things we need for frying, desserts, and certain frozen products. The place is clean but very small; don't bring your kids in here and let them run around. There's bags, boxes, and cans stacked and hidden in every nook and cranny. Take your time to look carefully, you'll find what you're looking for.The owners speak English perfectly fine, they just don't suffer fools. They will gladly help you find something. People complaining on here expect them to run their shop like a Target or Whole Foods, and that's not what this is. At the register they sell tin trays of samosas, wrapped desserts, and there's a lot of signs and cards for South Asian nannies, tailors, and travel agents. Not as large and varied as places in Western Mass, but if you live in the area and need authentic spices, sacks of your favorite brand of rice, South Asian beauty products and soaps, pots/utensils/pans, and things for religious rituals (incense, statues, offerings), definitely go here. The mark-up is because it's close to the city. If you want cheaper, drive to Waltham or New Jersey.

Products are highly overpriced.

Very pricey. Everything is marked up at least 50-70% compared to most other Indian stores. Also, I bought some Indian snacks (overpriced) and they were stale (very strong odor of rancid oil). Indian snacks don't go bad very fast even in room temperature, so I can't imagine how many months it must've been sitting on that shelf.

Really nice small shop with a nice collection of indian groceries and spices. Hard to imagine so many things fit into such a tiny place but very well organized.

Extremely disappointed with the behavior of the lady who runs the store. My kid was with a scooter in his hand and she didn't allow any of us to enter the store. She could have ask us to keep the scooter outside for the moment while shopping, but instead she didn't let us enter her store. This is not the first experience when she was rude, once I politely told her that one of the sweets I bought from her store was not good. She immediately shouted at me telling that " Don't tell that sweet is not good, it's not possible". Very weird situation, I never even asked her to give me my money back, I only told her that I didn't like the sweet I bought last time. Let alone the high prices, her behavior is very racist and inhumane. Never coming back to this store again.

They have a very small collections, the products about 50%-70% more expensive than other Indian stores for the same brands and they tend to keep inferior quality brands/products. Customer service isn’t their strength either. I’d only come here if there want any other option.

This is an Indian grocery store, though small it has all the stuff an Indian household may need. The couple who own the store are so sweet and helpful. 5* entirely justified!

Good having served for 4 decades. High prices due to inflation. Old stock. Not much choice with vegetables
