Not as good as expect, the papaya pad thai was dissapointing, portions are small and the sitting is not comfortable.

Our meal at Mahaniyom was quite good. The food was truly delicious and it arrived at our table faster than our seats could get warm! The table was not level, however, and were all so close together that the space felt quite cramped. We'll still be back!

Delicious food and fun energy! We really enjoyed the cocktails and music and thought every dish was great.

Delicious and authentic Thai food! This is a tapas spot so portions are in the smaller side, but we enjoyed everything we ordered.

I wanted to like Mahaniyom more than I did, especially given its Michelin notice. The food we ordered was delicious, but the small table and the way the dishes came from the kitchen made it hard to enjoy. The spiciest dish we ordered (the morning glory) came first, by itself, with nothing to balance it, and the other three all came after we had finished most of it. After that, there wasn't room on the table for everything so we felt like we had to eat quickly so we could get some of the serving dishes removed. So the actual experience of eating the food was awkward and difficult. Service was casual, meaning not overly attentive, and the wait person did not even bother to give us the nightly specials, which were written on a chalk board over the bar that was hard to read because of the dim lighting. The restaurant was not full (it was during the Super Bowl) so the wait staff were mostly standing around.

Honestly I think the food here is different and amazing. The flavors are new and bold. We liked the taste of everything we ordered. However the main issue was there were very limited vegetarian options.
They had some vegan options that were very good. The silken tofu dish was good and the greens were very good. The roti was fine.

However They didn’t have many options without fish sauce or oyster sauce. Even otherwise vegetarian dishes had this and couldn’t have them removed. So we couldn’t have anything that was on the menu except for the couple of things that were vegan. This would be something to improve I think.

I think the other main thing was that the atmosphere just made it not very enjoyable. The restaurant was super dark so we couldn’t even see What we were eating. The bathroom was also pitch black with just black lighting. And then in addition to being dark, It was also super cold and every time the door opened, we felt cold so we had to eat dinner with our jackets on. And they have no warm drinks on the menu, so all that made it less comfortable

I think that if they could improve the ambience, the food is overall very tasty

Ok to try if you are in the vicinity. If you are using the chase benefit, couple of things to note. You will get crappy hours. You will get seated at the window on a high top with a tiny table. If its winter, every time the door opens you will feel a good cold breeze. The place is dark, waiters are too busy to be nice, the only time they smiled was when they handed the check. Contrary to reviews, they cannot make items on the menu vegetarian, it's pre-mixed with seafood/meat. Only 3 items were vegetarian/vegan. Drinks were good. Food was decent but not specatcular, but it was a popular spot and it was packed. Restaurant has a small footprint.

Excellent place to spend the first night with family in this cozy place. The waitresses are super-friendly and helpful. Their cocktails and wine are so wonderful that you definitely don’t want to miss! The special “Lamb chop satay” is a home run! ….can’t wait to go back in 2026.

We heard about this place from the Michelin guide. Definitely worth getting a reservation! Cozy atmosphere, perfect for a date night.
Cocktails- Booze Sa Baa, Bangkok First Class, and Rambutini. Our favorite was the Booze Sa Baa.
To eat got the Khao Tang Na Tung, Beef Massaman, Kang Puu, the BBQ Crispy Pork Over Rice, and the Pumpkin Custard. We loved the massaman and the crispy pork, but all of the dishes were delicious.

Ordered take away in the restaurant, after having gone in person a couple of times. While it was completely packed, we were told it would take 25 minutes. 60 minutes later we finally got our food & drove home - only to discover a dish was missing. Tried calling, but voicemail was full so we had no way of contacting the restaurant. Disappointing.

Awesome only place I have found in USA that has pomelo salad. All the food we ordered was excellent. Only complaint is its so small. You should move to a larger space I am sure you'd have no problem filling a restaurant 4 times the aize

The pomelo salad was the best thing I’ve ever eaten. Just get it! I also asked for it not spicy so you have no excuse not to try it.

The service here is amazing as well. I thought it would get worse after all the Michelin hype but it’s still just as good.

Sunday lunch starts at 12pm and the place was packed; the Bib Gourmand awarded a month earlier plus Sapphire Reserve card promo were mentioned by folks sitting nearby, and reservations were tough to get.

Mahaniyom offers mostly small plates in the “Ran-Lao” style of Thai dining, but they also have daily specials (like Lamb Satay) that provide heartier portions.

The smaller bites such as the Fried Chive Cake (mild squares that go down easy) and Khao Tang Na Tung (crispy rice crackers with crab meat on top) are small but tasty.

If you like spicy food definitely order the Yum Som O (Pomelo Salad) and the Chicken Ka Praw (a standard Thai dish) which are excellent. I had to try the Pad Thai with Tiger Shrimp and it was workmanlike — good flavors but not much different than most Pad Thai (except for the big shrimp).

Mahaniyom offers numerous crab dishes which I learned are not typical in Thailand except in the south. We ordered the Kang Pu (Crab curry with a side of vermicelli and add-ins) and Crab fried Rice (very mild and decent portion size).

Since it was lunch I didn’t partake of the extensive 2-page drinks menu, but I was aware from the plaque on the bar that one of the owners, Chompon “Boong” Boonnak, received a Michelin Exceptional Cocktails Award.

On the very top shelf sat two large glass jars with uniquely Thai drinks that steep for a week before serving. I asked what’s up.

On the left was โคตรมั่น (“khot man”) which I was told was rye whiskey with herbs, and was labeled in English “Forever Boner Young” — and according to lore drinking the concoction will make you “Extremely confident”. I think I get it.

On the right was น้องเมียะอิน (“nóng mia in”) which was vodka again steeped with herbs. The literal meaning is “the younger sister-in-law is ‘into it’”, though the label says “Sobbling sister in law” (unsure here what that means!).

It’s great to see home brew in Brookline so I’ll leave it to the more adventurous to order shots of the non-standard brews.
