Wanted to try after it received Michelin Guide accolades. Was disappointed by the service (asked to leave just 1:10 hour after reservation time) and the service was average. The food and drinks were ok, but nothing special. So, not worth the hype.
This restaurant is jumping since it got the Michelin nod. It was very busy but our waitress wanted us to enjoy ourselves and take our time. We had the specials, a fried crab salad, like soft shell crab and breaded lightly, and a lamb satay, which were both excellent. The red curry with crab was nice, and the pad tai with mango was too chewy. But we liked the pumpkin flan desert. It was a little dark in there, but the walls are decorated interestingly and the ambience is bright and friendly, with cool music playing. All in all, a very hip experience, and better dark than over lit. We'd go again, maybe when the buzz wears off...but it truly deserved the Michelin nod. Thanks for a great meal and friendly service.
If one has a shell fish allergy, there are not many items on the menu that do not contain shell fish or shrimp paste.
I'll start off with the positives. The food was great. The BBQ pork, the chive dish, and the fried chicken were great. The ambiance was also nice. The restaurant was busy and clearly doing well. It is nice to see that. Now the downsides. Although we arrived just a few minutes after 1pm, our 1pm table was not ready for another 10 minutes. Normally, this is no big deal. But the restaurant was also very cold. And they were seating other people off of the waitlist (we overheard them talking to other patrons). When we were finally seated, it was right by the door, which was not closing all the way and letting cold air in. When ordering our drinks, I was cold so I asked if they had any teas. They did not. Okay, not a big deal. I asked if they could maybe offer a warm water, and I was told by the waitress that they did not any hot water. Again, normally this would be fine, but she said it VERY abruptly/rudely and then walked off. Is it a crime to ask for hot water? If you witnessed this interaction, you might think so. So I got to sit there in the freezing dining room, by the door that wouldn't close, with only the option of room temp water, wine, or iced drinks. First world problems, I am aware... I wouldn't have even left a review if it wasn't for the email request I got from OpenTable. I usually don't leave reviews, and when I do I usually focus on the good and will always let one or two problems slide. But when there are multiple problems, I like to give a little honest feedback. I don't plan on returning to Mahaniyom. Hopefully they can take their success and continue to grow. Maybe they can use some of their profits to fix the door that won't shut, and buy some mugs so they can offer hot drinks. It'll be worth it.
Everything we had was delicious! Great staff, especially in such a busy environment. Highly recommended
If your expectations are for Thai taco food, basic snack food, you will be fine. It is not gourmet or fine food. We ordered the BBQ pork over rice, and my wife had the Traditional Pad Thai. The pork was basically thick-cut bacon, that was a bit too fatty. The rice was tasty, but not something I would ever order again. My wife's Pad Thai was for her a little greasy. However, the appetizers we had were okay, especially the coconut beef that came with a tasty coconut, spicy sauce and bread for dipping. Also the fried bread was okay, although a little crispy. I just don't know why there's a wait to make reservations for this place. Thus was the second time going here. The first time I gave it high praise, but this time I thought it was just overall, okay.
Great experience! Great food! My buddy and I ate here as we traveled in for Patriots game. We had the crab curry and pad Thai with tiger shrimp. We also ordered two of the menu cocktails: both bourbon based and they were excellent. Bartender/server (we sat at bar; note here for restaurant bar stools not comfortable) was fantastic, personable, friendly throughout and attentive. He also after learning we were first time guests gave us after lunch cordials (also tasty). Place was busy but service great and food flavor was out of this world. We will be back and you have to try it out.
Great food and drinks for a good value! Cocktails were unique, crafty, delicious, and well-priced for Boston. Best Thai food I've had thus far in Boston as well. Spice level was great. Found my Kalaya away from Philly (different vibe/atmosphere and more casual spot though).
Great food and absolutely stellar cocktails. Ordered about for dishes and two cocktails and the total was less than I expected. Great value and well deserved of the Michelin recognition!
Congratulations on the Michelin Bib Gourmand! This was our first time at Mahaniyom and it was excellent. The attention to detail with the flavors and textures were a delight. For example, the beef massaman was exquisite and truly a surprise as a dark curry with complex flavors, and the chicken ka-praw (get the fried egg on top!) was so delicious. The cocktails are super original and very tasty. Can't recommend this restaurant enough.

excellent (and spicy)! we were seated early. staff was super attentive and food delicious.
Came in early (~30min) from my reservation and was able to be sat down. Our group had pre-planned dishes to order and our orders came within 5-10minutes of waiting. Super fast service without diminishing quality of food. We didn't waste anything and left completely satisfied. 100% will come again!
Amazing food, cocktails and service! Loved the traditional shots, cocktails, and crab curry! Must visit!
Every dish is amazing. We've been here twice and each time try different things. We've never been disappointed. Awesome vibe also.
Food tasted flavorful and rich. Host seated us quickly after we checked in. Busy environment and felt the downtown vibe
