Best bagels I’ve ever had in the greater Boston area after living here for over a decade. Yes, better than whatever is in Brookline or Cambridge, and perfect for when you want a normal, no frills, delicious bagel with CC. I’m from NJ and these are by far the best: great texture, no BS, super affordable, and the place has character. I don’t even live in Chelsea but I woke up early to drive over and bring two dozen to an event for breakfast and they were a hit.

(Please never get rid of the blueberry bagels!)

Best New York style bagel you will find in Boston. The guy in the front was incredibly, friendly and efficient. The owner saw us in our car eating our pizza bagels and came out and brought us a huge stack of napkins. Such a nice guy! Would come out here again just for the bagels.

Love them!!! Been going here for decades, and they have never disappointed me. Regardless who is working that counter! The best bagels in Massachusetts!!! And don’t forget to try their hotdog & pizza bagels. You’ll thank me later 😊

In my opinion, Katz Bagel is hands down the best bagel bakery in Boston. The bagels are outstanding—hot, fresh, and straight from the oven. While the cream cheese is average, the quality of the bagels more than makes up for it. The street parking can be a bit tight.

First time in, and most likely last time. Guy made a little fit cause I was going to do Apple Pay… felt like I was being rushed.

For a long time, Katz has been heralded as one of the best bagels in the GBA, so I was excited to finally give it a try this past weekend. I rolled in around 7 a.m. (their new opening time) and found a limited selection of bagels and a 20-minute wait for the hot dogs. While waiting, I got to talk to some loyal locals who’ve been coming to this spot for decades. The general consensus was that the quality has been slipping the past few years.

After a 30-minute wait, I walked out with a mix of bagels, their famous pizza bagels, hot dogs, and a blueberry cheesecake. The hot dog was seemingly unassuming, but the pillowy bun, juicy dog, and just the right zing of mustard made it a simple yet satisfying treat. Sure, it might be a bit hefty for breakfast, but it felt just right since I was starving.

Now, the pizza bagel. Sadly, this reimagined classic fell a bit flat, literally. Pressing the bagel into “pizza form” squashed all its fluffy air pockets, leaving a chewy base that lacked the crispy charm of pizza or the bounce of a bagel. To make matters worse, the tomato sauce and mozzarella toppings were spread so thin they barely made an impression. As for the regular bagels, they were solid but not exactly worth a special trip. Good for a local stop, but not quite worth the hype.
