Amazing food and ambiance! The service was extremely slow, and many mistakes were made such as sending food to the wrong table. The ambiance is wonderful.

As close to an authentic omakase experience as it gets outside of Japan. The quality of the food (texture + flavor) as well as the presentation were all mind blowing. Service was also great. Dan was very polite and knowledgeable about the menu, being able to give a detailed description about each item he was asked about. I’m definitely coming back!

I don’t often leave reviews, but our experience at xoxo was just so disappointing. We booked the reservation to celebrate my 31st birthday, which we noted when we made the reservation.
It took nearly 30 minutes for our drinks to come (we love cocktails, so the drink menu was half of why we chose xoxo), our server was really inattentive (not entirely his fault- he seemed to be managing several tables), and the food was just….fine? Or to me it felt that the food was extremely overpriced for what they served. And we had driven from Quincy. We literally ended up ordering just the drinks, a miso soup (that was $9 and so small), and two hand rolls (if you can call them that- it was more like one piece of sushi in a big piece of seaweed- yummy, but truly a bite), before we got our check and ordered sushi from our favorite takeout spot back home.

We just visited this restaurant hoping for a memorable meal, but overall it was a bit underwhelming. The food was okay—fresh fish and decent quality, but nothing that really blew us away in terms of flavor. We were expecting more exciting or creative combinations, and it just didn’t quite deliver.
On top of that, the service left a lot to be desired. Our waiter wasn’t particularly attentive or helpful, and a special request for a birthday candle on dessert was completely forgotten. To add to the disappointment, the prices were really steep for what we got—particularly the dessert, which, despite having a little drizzle or garnish, basically felt like a single scoop of mango ice cream for $20.
All in all, it wasn’t the worst meal we’ve had, but it definitely didn’t live up to the price or the occasion.

I think a bit over priced for what you get.

I was pretty shocked why this place was reviewed 4.7, and as somebody who already review restaurants, I trusted the 4.7 and decided to go in with my husband and our daughter and give it a try. The foods are not conventional, which sometimes that fusion feel and over spiciness totally ruins the real feel of a flavor. We were searching pretty hard to find something that was not spicy. And since when Japanese food is so spicy?? And if you are going there with your kid, the choices are non existent. And finally for what is spicy and super small portions (watermelon and tuna- these are one spoon items) you end up paying a lot of money. The fish quality was not even high. Paper-thin slices of sashimi fatty tuna … all together, it was a disappointing experience.

This place is a total rip off. Very pricey for super small portions. Deliberately high margin items only — What kind of Japanese restaurant does not offer Maki rolls? Food is also very salty. In Boston for high end Japanese food, go to Zuma or Lola for where at least you can get the worth of your money . This place is pretentious and not authentic

Absolutely amazing!! Every dish was made with great intention and everything was so flavorful. The fish tasted really fresh. Vegetables were cooked to perfection. I was only upset when my meal was over. A++.
