I really wanted to love The Blue Oar! We were going to see a show and this location was recommended in a Foodie FB group. This is an adorable small restaurant that was unbelievably loud. It was difficult to carry on any conversation without yelling. We love music and concerts so I'm ok with loud but this was too loud. The food was good but undercooked
Just finished a fantastic meal with my boyfriend.. the food is absolutely stellar. The meat and cheese board, the salmon, the haddock, even the green salad! It truly far exceeded my expectations.
Also, don't sleep on the Bee's Knees cocktail. It was perfection!
Thank you for the kindness and generosity!! We will absolutely be back!

The Blue Oar exceeded our expectations! Our server was so attentive and made perfect suggestions. We had the burata/pesto app and it was amazing! We then had the salmon with a delicious risotto and steak tips! Everything was excellent. We will definitely be back.
I am happy to recommend this place! It's a great environment to spend time with family and friends, great food, perfect drinks and very good service! Congratulations to everyone
Charging $24 for a small sliver of breaded frozen tasting fish with a hand full of steak fries with no seasoning is egregious. We will not be back. Aesthetically pleasing atmosphere and the drinks were good.

The Blue Oar was phenomenal for brunch. I had the steak tips and eggs and my wife had the chicken and waffles. Both were incredible along with the rum old fashioned I had with my steak. The staff was very friendly and the chef who recently took over the kitchen came out to make sure everything was perfect. I wil definitely be back for brunch and can’t wait to try the dinner. I will be recommending this to all my friends and family.
Parking: There’s a large free parking lot right around the corner

I was excited to try the blue oat the first time. The food was good but not amazing. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things. Our server was amazing. She was attentive with a great personality and did everything right. We only live eight minutes away from the restaurant. I don't know if I'm going be in a rush to go back.
Great service and a great meal all for a great price! Really enjoyed my time there and definitely am coming back soon.

How have I never been here before??My friends and I went to the Fiesta de Cervesas with Mayflower Brewing and it was such a great night all around! The food was incredible , the staff was attentive, and the vibe was so fun. Also, the cocktails are hands down the best I've had on the South Shore (shout out Bees Knees and Golden Hour, the literal perfect drinks for summer)!I cannot wait to go back!

I’ve been here 3 times and every time something has gone less than smoothly. The food is decent when you get what you ask for but the service is BRUTAL. First time was okay. Service was a little slow but they brought the wrong food out and put our order in incorrectly. It happens. I didn’t love the 3 or 4 houseflies hanging around the table though. Second time, we went in and there were more flies both in the dining room and the even in the bathroom. I get wanting to let fresh air in, but close the screen door. Additionally, we had to wait at least 20 minutes for someone to come over to us. While we were waiting, another table that had been waiting for their food for a long time asked their server if the order was entered yet. She took offense and asked them “why would you think I didn’t put the order in? Obviously I put it in.” After they left, we heard the server complaining to bartender about the lack of tip. Totally fine if you want to vent to a co-worker, but complaining about guests in front of other guests while you’re on the floor just kinda kills the mood. Service was in fact slow and she was rude to the guests, so I can see where the low tip would come in. Finally, we came here one last time with my in-laws and the service was painfully slow! Luckily no flies this time. Drinks took 10 minutes and then we weren’t asked if we wanted another. The food came out wrong again! And then it took the servers 10 minutes to bring us the check from the time we asked. Its a VERY small place, so not sure why anything takes long. Its a shame because its not a big place and the food is good once you get it, but the service is pathetic.

Both times I have dined at Blue Oar I have been so disappointed by the portion size. Terrible value. The quinoa bowl was barely a lunch portion and cost $26 and the Brussels sprout appetizer was oversized. Probably won’t dine there again.

I have been on a date to the Blue Oar with my girlfriend, the staff was lovely, they arranged a quite cozy table in a corner and offered us coffee, food and cocktails were delicious (brussels sprouts, tuna and burgers). It has a very friendly atmosphere, I saw also people coming with their families or with friends, for a beer or dinner. Recommend wholeheartedly! Cheers from Paris, France!
