80 Thoreau is a lovely restaurant, wonderful ambience. Great cocktails, salad, amazing peach dessert. My dining partner loved her swordfish, but I was disappointed with the shrimp entree, and I just wouldn't order that again. I'll definitely keep going back!

Exploring a new town just in time for a birthday. Tucked away behind a little blue door is an elegant and delightful restaurant. The atmosphere was cozy. The servers were helpful and shared their favorites. The food had wonderful flavor combinations, unique applications of ingredients and i would describe the dishes we tried as phenomenal. Would absolutely come back again.

I don't like to post bad reviews because I don't want to hurt small business or hide behind the internet but this was a very very bad meal that was expensive. The setting is nice and the staff were attentive and warm. The food was really not good. My husband's waffles with caviar was dry, flat. Not exciting and rich like you would expect. My tomato salad was fine. The lobster pasta was ok but not very flavorful. The shrimp and grits were inedible. They were grilled but all you tasted in your mouth was burnt it was terrible. We contemplated sending it back but didn't want to make a scene and just knew we won't go back and didn't even really want to try anything else. I don't think the chef tasted the dish because it was horrible and we both got the shrimp and both were bad so it wasn't a one off. I wanted it to be good but it was not even ok.

I went there for the first time during Restaurant Week, so of course the value seemed excellent. As a person dining alone, I was pleased to get a very good table and exemplary service. Will definitely return.

It is our anniversary and restaurant week. Discovered we have been going here to celebrate that day for at least 15 years. The food and service is always excellent. Husband remarked his glass of excellent wine was cheaper than many other restaurants. His pet peeve is loud music in places, and 80 Thoreau just has very quiet background music. Service is excellent. Friendly staff. The highlight though is the food. It is always top notch.

The restaurant week 3 course menu is a heavenly dining experience and great value; indeed, it is so good we want to go back and do it all again.

The beet salad was amazing, highly recommend ! The striped bass was made well pan seared but the accompanying green the sauce had little to no taste

Overall an outstanding experience. The peach burrata was to die for. The Cavetelli was probably the best I've ever had. The jalapeño tequila cocktail (I forget the name of it) was absolutely fabulous. The only slight negative was we did have to wait about a half an hour to get our drinks and place our food order. We had a late reservation so probably just a little more cranky because of how hungry we were. But I would certainly not hesitate to come back to this establishment, it is top rate.

Having last eaten here about 6-7 years ago I was a bit disappointed in the food this time. The burrata starter was fine but not excellent, and lacked flavor (a peach coulis would work perhaps?). The halibut main I had was tough and not very flavorful. My dining partner had steak frites which she enjoyed. The basque cheesecake we shared for dessert was delicious, not too sweet. A mixed bag as regards the food. Service was excellent.

We ordered the grilled swordfish entree and the roasted Heirloom chicken with black morel. Both were truly delicious. The wait staff was, as always, friendly and attentive. 80 Thoreau is consistently a great place to have dinner. Thank you!

I had the lobster pasta. I think the lobster was from frozen or from a can. It was over cooked and too chewy. The sauce was a bit bitter and oily and strong, depriving the tasting of the lobster. The room is beautiful. The service was fine. The food was disappointing.

Food is awful. Don’t waist your time and money. Go to McDonald’s

We go here for special occasions. The food is always interesting, and sometimes truly remarkable. We got bluefish. My partner LOVED it, I found it a little intense flavor-wise, but unique and the flavors blended really well. Wait person was efficient, but somewhat dour until we made an effort to engage them a little. Wine by the bottle is very expensive. We got a glass each, which was fine, and the quality was excellent. Will go back, as this is a unique and exciting place.

Creative, delicious and beautifully presented meal in a simple, attractive setting. Our server was able to helpfully explain the dishes.. A great choice for a special dinner. I ordered scallops as a starter and lobster pasta. My husband started with a salad and then had duck. We shared a desert annd each had a glass of wine. We left happy. Bill: $177.
