Eggs over easy looked like crap; the whites of the egg were actually brown! Bland potatoes and bacon with the consistency of a wet noodle. Server was as inattentive as you can get. Visited this place after an appointment at Hawthorn Medical. Last time I was at the Phoenix was about six months ago. After this experience, I will never be back.

I have never had an issue with this location until today I had gone for brunch with my younger brother which is facing some hard times he wanted breakfast nothing else I chose to come here to eat and spend time with brother about an hour before closing 1:12 to be exact which I feel is a reasonable time. Me being a server I can understand the frustration of having a long shift and someone walking in when you thought you had no more tables. Never would I express that in front of a customer how she did especially one who tips and that’s basically how you make your paycheck. I go out to eat a lot and have had worst service that that and I still tip. Michelle 52 years old appears to not like her job and expects to treat people in such a way when walking in and still expect a tip and when bringing to the restaurant’s attention her excuse was “she wanted to leave early and I walked in “. “She didn’t even tip me “ of course not most tips are based on service. You never know what someone is going through and I feel like that woman took away from a good time I was supposed to be spending with my brother. If your worried about receiving a good tip and good review then be a good person period.

Looking for a solid breakfast spot? This place delivers hot, fresh food in generous portions. The only downside was unevenly cut home fries that left some pieces undercooked.

I had a ham, egg, and cheese on an English muffin — the ham was a thick, juicy steak cut. My fiancée ordered a linguiça cheese roll that actually had plenty of linguiça and cheese (a rare find!).

Prices are moderate — not cheap, but fair for the freshness and quality. The open kitchen is a nice touch, though expect to leave with a bit of the cooking smell. Counter seating lets you watch your meal being made.

Overall: flavorful food, hearty portions, and worth recommending.

Haven’t been here in quite a while. The Waitress was pleasant. After that things went downhill. The restaurant really needs a good cleaning stickie tables, dirty floor. We were served Eggs Benedict with a broken hollandaise sauce. Ordered Eggs Benedict with bacon it was served with ham. When I mentioned the order was not correct I was informed that is how Eggs Benedict is always served. The potatoes were bland and cold. Now I know why there were only a few customers. Rather expensive for poor quality food.

THE SERVICE:

I was greeted by a friendly hostess/waitress who promptly escorted me to a table. The waitress was attentive and helpful.

THE ATMOSPHERE:

The interior of the restaurant is in need of refurbishing and deep cleaning. The weathered and torn booth seating, grubby carpet, grimy flooring, and dingy restroom was uninviting.

Another area of concern was the amount of food and discarded napkins on the floor around some tables/booths. There were more employees than customers while I dined providing ample opportunity for cleaning.

I observed a young gentleman haphazardly clearing table tops but not picking up any of the trash directly under the booths/tables. After he “cleaned”, a waitress later grabbed a broom to sweep up the mess he ignored.

The waitress assigned to my table kept herself busy. As I was leaving, I observed her beginning to clean another section with dirty table tops, and a lot of discarded food and trash on the carpet. She stood out as a very hard worker while others complained endlessly at the soda fountain ignoring opportunities to create a welcoming environment for customers.

THE FOOD:

The stuffed French toast was okay. After scraping off the excessive whip cream, the French toast tasted all right. The chourico hash was underwhelming. Lastly, The apple juice tasted very watered down..

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Renovations are costly, but there are budget friendly upgrades that would make an immediate difference. The tile flooring to include the restroom needs an industrial cleaning to rid the off putting grease and grime appearance. Updating the bathroom lighting, finishes, and a fresh coat of paint would create much needed brightness. Using a leather repair kit may help improve the appearance of those booth seats.

From the conversations I overheard, it doesn’t appear as though employees are happy in their working environment, and they feel under appreciated. This may explain the lack of motivation and attention to detail I observed.

Have gone here many times over the years and was always pleased, apparently there's been a change in ownership, so just went there very recently and without exaggeration the worst breakfast I've ever had in my life, my wife literally had three bites of hers, I ate maybe 10 to 15 % of mine, the waitress asked what was wrong (she was very nice) I told her very politely what we thought, she went to management to try and see what could be done and they literally did nothing for us, I have friends that own restaurants, and if the food was so bad the customer didn't eat it they would never expect them to pay the bill, but not at just another phoenix, I hope the 40 some odd dollars I spent there was worth it for them I will never set foot in there again, shameful, Update 6/27/25 I felt the need to respond to your reply of my review, you mentioned the waitress checked in several times during the course of our visit there, which is true and the last time she came over both of our meals were hardly touched, and she asked what was wrong I explained it to her very respectfully, and she said she was going to go back and speak to management, that would have been the time to address the issues we had, there was no discount offered, they took the hash off my bill which was burnt, and I still paid for the meals which were barely touched! Honestly I don't care to discuss this any further if you feel that you were right in charging me then that's your prerogative, I know I would never charge somebody for something they were totally dissatisfied with, and just for the record I was extremely respectful and polite to your waitress and I even apologized to her and still left her a 20% tip I had no issues with her at all, she was very nice

I had an omelet, cheese roll, and French toast. All were delicious. My waitress was friendly and attentive and my food came out quickly.

In my mind this spot has been going downhill for some time..ordered a basic bacon and egg breakfast....home fries were barely warm, toast was cold and hard as a rock...I'm done... won't be back

This place has amazing specials every day. Sweet & Savory! The new owners are so sweet and genuine and are doing awesome in their new adventure. I hope everything goes smooth for them as they learn the restaurant business.
